I'd imagine there is lot of people using them for heat and other purposes besides light, if you have a coal stoker and shut it down for the summer a small light bulb inside is common technique to keep a little heat in it which keeps the moisture out preventing corrosion.

Funny article I read from UK, some guy got the bright idea to sell the lamps as portable heaters to get around the ban.

There goes the easy bake oven. Secret is that industrial bulbs like traffic signal grade will still be made, as far as I know.

That is why many of bought and still buy plenty of the normal incandascent bulbs and hoard them. I refuse to allow the government to tell me what I can and can't use.
