It would be illegal to not go to Temple (Synagogue) on Saturday. Sunday is not the Sabbath. Every Christian on Earth breaks that Commandment.

She may have a point.

America could do worse than to go back to an age of morality and prudence.

We have strayed further and further away from strong family values that hold our communities together.

The family that prays together...stays together.
Assuming that the USA would even exist today with such ideas, what laws and punishment would be instituted to enforce the ten commandments? For that matter, the ten commandments appear in Judaism, Islam and Christianity with multiple variations of those. But here is the combined/paraphrased list:
1- There is no other God
This would make all other religions (except Islam, Judaism and Christianity illegal... say no to the First Amendment).
2- Do not make yourself an idol
A law virtually every Christian breaks... the Cross, idols of Christs are just that... idols.
3- Do not use God's name in vain and for oaths
"So help me God" would be illegal?
4- Keep Sabbath holy (according to Islam, Sabbath was only for Jews, and Friday was for Muslims)
No shopping. No TV. No alcohol...
5- Respect your parents
So, how many lashes per defiance? Most teenagers would have something to brag about in later years.
6- Do not kill
Did Moses do that before, or after killing entire villages? Does that include waging/supporting wars? Dropping bombs indiscriminately?
7- Do not commit adultery
Oh boy... now let us define what adultery would entail, that ought to be fun. Perhaps Palin could help?
8- Do not steal
From who? What defines stealing?
9- Do not lie
There goes free speech...
10- Do not covet your neighbor's belongings
I wonder if Sarah Palin is guilty of that, or considered buying a property next door.

Thankfully we don't live under the Law and have to keep that. Jesus was the end of the Law.

Yes they would......and it wouldn't be pretty. I can see them gleefully throwing people in jail for not following the rules of the bible to the letter.....while behind closed doors they break the rules themselves.

Now....they are relatively harmless.....they can only get up on their pulpits and preach about adultry, homosexuality and sexual perversion........while they indulge in it themselves.

This country would quickly turn into another Iran or Afganistan if Christian Conservatives had the power. {{{shiver}}}

BTW...Sarah Palin is a perfect example....she preaches abstinence, yet she herself was pregnant on her wedding day.

Throwing people in jail for not following the rules?

Did you completely ignore this thread? SourD is claiming US law is based on the 10 Commandments. That is part of the Law, and the 4th Commandment is the Sabbath, of which there was a death penalty (although never enforced) for breaking. And to be clear, Jesus didn't end the law, he fulfilled it. He specifically said he did not come to abolish it.

You mean the basic values of not killing, stealing, etc? Yeah...I'd say it is.

Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes.

No...we don't have to follow the law for righteousness. But society as a whole is better off if we follow the 10 commandments.

Happened in the UK. They have different laws, and the man violated the UKs Public Order Act.

Also not the United States.

Which existed long before the 10 Commandments. Those are common aspects of a civilized society. They develop out of basic sociological dependance on one's fellow citizens. That's why laws and police are created, to protect individual rights. Completely irrelevant to Mosaic law.

Matt 5:17 "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

Then I guess you'll righteously be the first example of the death penalty for breaking the 4th Commandment?

I also anticipate you asking your congressman while your on death row to abolish the First Amendment, since it violates the 9th Commandment. And let's be sure to reimplement that stoning the children policy for breaking the 5th Commandment.

All good ideas Calvinist, thanks!

I'd like to see an article with a bit less bias, but Dearborn is the most Muslim of all cities in the US, and if that article was true, yes it's wrong. But that's not common in the US, and the other 2 articles are irrelevant since they didn't happen under our laws. That poster was just playing the persecution card.
