She has the right but I've noticed that the National Socialist Movement (American Nazi Party) has adopted the flag as their own. How does the OP feel about the ANP adopting the confederate flag as their own? That is the question.
Its fine if they flyit in the yard etc...what u get here (Tenn) is yahoos in huge trucks blaring (whatever) music and have the flag draped over a truck bed filled with Bud cans
At least my Texas neighbors have class they put the US flag and their state flag up. And its no issue. They have class.

But anyway, the point that those of your ilk (and I mean this in no note of personal disrespect) is to presume ahead of time that those of us who do not share your vision of the role of slavery are in some kind of denial as to history. As it is -- and I am a staunch Souhern Partisian -- I fully agree that slavery was an issue on an undeniable level. It was the one that brought things to a head, so to speak.
HOWEVER, it was not a moral issue and slavery itself was bound up in larger issues that had existed from the beginning. Yes, South Carolina (along with Mississippi, Georgia, and Texas) made some strong statements in their declarations that centered around slavery. At the same time though, they were never alone and unattached to other considerations. Georgia brought up the unfair tarriffs imposed on the South. Texas brought up the failure of the feds to live up to protecting settlers along the exposed frontier.
It's interesting that you claim that the issue of slavery was "not a moral issue", since the vice president of the Confederacy disagrees with you in his infamous Cornerstone Speech:

Anyway, it's once again time to wipe out these "tarriffs, state's rights" claims. The "State's Rights" excuse was only crafted after the Confederacy's defeat, by groups like the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Daughters of Confederate Veterans, as a way to maintain pride after having lost their battle in defense of an obvious evil. This wild support of slavery can be seen in several other battles, including the battles for "bleeding Kansas", and the filibustering expititions of the 1850s, such as those of Narciso Lopez and William Walker
The "Confederate Flag" regained popularity not due to any sort of pride, but rather as a response to black Americans demanding that their rights be acknowledged within the US. This is also when the "State's Rights" motto became popular, along with mottos like "local rule" - these mottos were aimed at preserving racist systems such as the Jim Crow south, or the rampant housing and job discrimination in the north.

so glad you live in a state that did not exist at that time in our history. none of us were alive back then including you. actually the Africans rounding up and selling slaves are mostly to blame. they still do it today.
