Nahhhhhhhhh still a free Country, pretty much. I don't go for anyone else telling any other person who not or who too to vote for, don't go for that. Right or wrong decisions, we each have the right to vote for our choice.

Yep.

Even if we're dumb.

There was a reason why the Founding Fathers excluded women & non land owners from voting......

Ya know I'm just kidding....we've come a long way BABY.

Every religion, if a person is a true believer/fundamentalist, is kooky and I would not want someone in power to determine public policy being informed by such rigidity.

Example: I believe gays are equal citizens to the rest of us and if they are adults they should be granted every legal right without prejudice. I don't care if it is a choice or not. It should not matter. It's like saying people who like lasagna should not be able to marry.

So, in my opinion, such fundie religious beliefs are way out of line in a democratic republic and such people should not be allowed to hold public office. I believe that they should be vigorously questioned as to their religious beliefs.

In current times, we are just electing them and sidestepping entirely the religious issue. At some point, we are open to get a real nutjob in charge if we ignore this issue.

I don't know how fundamentalist Romney's Mormonism is. He does have a big family, though.

So, basically, you renounce that our country was based on Judaeo-Christian belefs?

Here's a little gem for ya.

Quote:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.
-- Article VI, Paragraph III of the U.S. Constitution
I'm not a fan of fundamentalists myself, but it is just as wrong to restrict their political rights as it is for others.

I will. Can you tell me where in our Constitution or other founding writings one can find institutionalized concepts like forgiveness for sins, the Trinity, Judaic law, dietary prohibitions, observance of the Sabbath, laws against blasphemy, etc? Which part of the institutions of the USA are Christian-based, and which are Jewish?

I agree with Jeffress on one thing. Mormonism is a cult but so is every denomination of xtianity. Seriously, when you spend your Sundays prentending to eat the body and drink the blood of a zombie that levatated into the sky, you can't pretend that you're any less cultish than protective underpants wearing, gods of their own planets when they die mormons. It's all nonsense.
Since when has politics been anything but illogical stupidity? As the book says: "By their fruits ye shall know them" and America's politicos are taking this country straight to hell.

Exactly who's hell is still a matter of debate, however....
