That's legitimate news for a presidential candidate.
I don't think anyone is questioning whether candidates should be vetted by the press. Just too bad Obama wasn't equally vetted by the MSM when he was a candidate.

A settlement does not equate to guilt in this day and age. Lawyers have seen to it that it is often cheaper to settle than to fight to keep one's name clean from baseless accusations. Simply stated, there is not enough information to know the exact allegations nor what may or may not really have happened.

Although Rahm has been accused as well, but it's likely either Romney or Perry - Cain damaged helps Perry more than Romney.

Op research - same kind of stuff Hillary did to obama about his birth cert. Those of you who don't know - it was the HILLARY campaign who opened that can of worms.

Could be the Left too, they are constantly looking for stuff like this.
And lest anyone forget, this is the post that tried to deflect from the topic by bringing up Obama/birthers.

No, just giving an EXAMPLE of opposition research from the dem side.

That's exactly what this "leak" is - opposition research.

Yes. Trying to deflect. And badly, too.

There wasn't any reason except for extreme partisanship to bring up Obama/birthers.

Cain's campaign manager said it was Curt Anderson who worked for Cain's senate campaign in 2004 and knew about the cases who now works for Perry's campaign.

A little birdie told me it was:

Spoiler

Wanna know why?

Spoiler
Because Obama wants to run against Romney in 2012 - he's easier to beat than Cain.

However the other factors are two of the biggest GOP players, Rove and the Koch's vowed between the two of them to give over half a billion dollars in campaign funds to the GOP in the 2012 election. Rove has been backing Romney while the Koch's are behind Cain. Rove has made his entire carrier on digging up dirt and backstabbing, possibly Rove is behind the leak?
There's also loons like Ann Coulter throwing the "blame the liberals" garbage as usual. The question, who is likely behind the leak?
First of all you assume that it is a scandal, and then you assume that it involves sexual harassment. Do you have any facts to back up either of those assumptions? So far there are no facts, just innuendos and rumors.

It's a little bit more than innuendo and rumor. There are, indeed, two women who made accusations. We don't know the details of the accusations, but we do know that the accusations were of sexual harassment. We know that in at least one of the cases, there was a settlement. Those are facts.

Herman Cain denies allegations of sexual harassment - Los Angeles Times

Quote:
Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is denying allegations that he had been accused of sexual harassment when he was head of the National Restaurant Assn.
He denied that the accusations ever occurred. Then, when it was clear he could not keep that story up, he switched to saying yes, the allegations were made, but they are false. He also switched his story about whether or not there was a cash settlement.

All of this would blow over in a day if he had just said the truth to begin with.

Thanks for the clarification. I must say I agree with you for once. LOL.

But still. If Cain is indeed innocent, this is terrible because most of the time even if the name is cleared legally, the name is still tainted.
