While this point is accurate and irrefutable; it nevertheless has nothing to do with a memorial dedicated at the time. The folks involved at that time, it could arguably be said, had no agenda to erase christianity but perhaps, rather, to simply honour the fallen with their 'single purpose' memorial.

What of those avowed atheists who also sacrificed, would you now denigrate their memory by adding a prayer on their memorial? Perhaps even erase their names because they were non-believers. Yes I've also heard the one; "there are no atheists in a fox-hole". but that is an anecdote and this memorial is far more important than that little ditty.

ALL those being memorialized and honoured are treated the same irrespective of race, creed, religion or lack thereof. I ask again; how does adding words spoken by the president of the day in a publicized prayer embellish the honour that memorial already gives those fallen veteran's.

Perhaps, just perhaps those folks 60 years ago got it right the first time and left religiousity out of the equation entirely for a very good reason?

"WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration is opposing
legislation that would add President Franklin Roosevelt's D-Day
prayer to the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C.
At a House hearing Thursday, Robert Abbey, director of the
Bureau of Land Management, said a plaque or inscription of the
prayer that Roosevelt read on a radio broadcast to the nation on
June 6, 1944, would "dilute" the memorial's central message.
As U.S and allied troops launched the invasion that led to the
defeat of Nazi Germany, FDR asked the nation to join him in prayer.
He then asked God to give the allied troops courage and faith,
saying, "With thy blessing we shall prevail over the unholy forces
of our enemy."
A World War II veteran, 87-year-old George "Poppy" Fowler,
told a House committee that the prayer should be added to the
memorial. He said, "This prayer came at a perilous time, yet it
was answered in victory at a dear cost of lives."
The legislation calls for the plaque or inscription to be paid
for with private donations."

Does this latest salvo of US history suppression endorsed by the Obama administration and foretold by MO, cause you any concern about the direction the Obama regime is trying to force the country?

While the ACLU has been active before Obama, representing various anti Judeo-Christian groups, the speech by MO and the flood of attacks by federal agency heads on various war memorials , some located in remote desert and mountain areas, suggest a link between MO's words and a conscious attempt to rewrite US history?

The Obama administration has been more effective at rewriting our history than creating jobs...
Kracer !!! ... Precisely !

Indeed ... It appears that the pc morons and the looney left muppets are hell bent on distorting Americas great historical record !!!!!! ..... and who can blame them ! ..... Just look at the miserably pathetic historical record these loons are leaving for posterity ! .....

America's magnificent past history simply eliminates any desire to even consider a glimpse of these mental midgets and their pitiful lack of any credible accomplishments !

FDR and company in the WH was the right man in the right place at the right time during WW2 ..... and thats a historical fact you can take to the bank !!!

Take a close look at todays WH inhabitant ... and of course their is no comparrison to the greatness, leadership, patriotism, and intellect of a true Democrat such as "The FDR" !

How utterly pitiful we as Americans have seemingly become !

Well, it appears that adding plaques to monuments after the fact is a popular idea around here. I can't wait to see the Sons of Confederate Veterans' addendum to the Lincoln monument.
