that makes no sense, being celibate is something that the bible explicitly states that you are only supposed to do IF CALLED TO DO. just being gay is NOT what the bible means by this.

either you think homosexuality is a choice (which is isn't) or you don't descriminate.
The Bible explicitly teaches that homosexual activity is a sin. It does not address the issue of whether homosexuality (same-sex attraction) is a choice or not nor does it prescribe any course of action for those so inclined except to avoid sin. The Salvation Army is on solid biblical footing in refusing to countenance public sin of any kind.

I stopped volunteering for, and giving donations to, religion based charities a long time ago. There are plenty of options available especially in larger cities, and online, as venues for anonymous/unconditional help.

So theoretically, you just say "who cares" and brush it off if you were black and the Salvation Army was only in favor of supporting white family values?

Despite being black and being a family that has nothing to do with anyone else, or their personal or public life?

It's also not a matter of "well, I don't want to shop here because of ____" - It's because the Salvation Army is not providing the same benefits to same-sex couples. An entirely different issue, and if you can't recognize that you shouldn't be commenting on it.

Thanks for the info!

I'll now be dropping $50's into the buckets instead of $20's!

I don't spend my money at any store or restaurant that is anti-gay. Such as Chick-Fil-A or Hobby Lobby, to name two. Would you go eat at Chick-Fil-A if it was public knowledge that they funneled profits to the KKK?

This discussion is like arguing with the wall. Even when you're right, the wall doesn't care and still continues to be a big obstruction in the way of getting from point a to point b.

Thankfully things will be going our way within the next 10 years anyways; so it doesn't matter really.

This Sunday (Christmas) my church is cooking dinner for the homeless. I'll be there participating and feeding anyone who needs food regardless of race or sexual orientation. Unlike the SA, my church doesn't condemn gays.

Okay. We'll just compare you to Latinos. Is that okay?

No, of course, the fight for equal rights was different for blacks than it is for gays, but most reasonable people can see that there are some similarities.
