Most people who were following the news when DADT was repealed could see that most Americans considered it an important milestone in civil rights. It was only socially conservative Republicans who were against repealing it.

When you have laws, rights or benefits that only apply to some or discriminate against some it is a valid problem and a valid concern. can a gay person sponsor a loved one for a VISA the same way a heterosexual can? NO.
Heterosexuals can go to any magistrate and get married, call it married and not be singled out because of sexual orientation.
You would have to be blind or completely ignorant not to see that we are a long way from treating gays equally in this country.
This is the defining social issue of our time. Liberals and conservatives are becoming ever-more polarized and hateful towards each other on this issue.
