We're talking about breasts.

Ridiculous. I've donated to the foundation for a number of years until I read about their bully tactics on smaller breast cancer charities (suing them for using "for the cure" when it wasn't copywritten for one thing) or their commercialization of a devastating disease. This is totally politically motivated, misguided garbage and yet another way for the hypocritical moral police to impose on people's personal sex lives. Abortions are a small percentage of what Planned Parenthood does, but yet again, the poor and undereducated are used as a scapegoat and led to the wolves.

Just another example of how America is rapidly becoming a banana republic and too many people don't even realize it.
I think you might want to look at the definition of banana republic because that term has nothing to do with this.

I'd suggest considering American Cancer Society next time, just on the basis of efficiency and utilization...but regardless thankyou for donating money that will largely go towards fighting breast cancer.

Okay, a banana republic with Superpower tendencies. Elements of the definition include a heavily impoverished lower class ruled over by a group of elites, operated as a commercial enterprise for commercial profit. Sounds a lot like America to me nowadays.

Well, according to the article linked in the OP, the SGK foundation has a policy that prevents them giving grants to organizations that are under investigation my local, state or federal authorities. You may like that policy or not, but it's apparently a policy of the organization. Yes, Planned Parenthood is under federal investigation. And that's why else a breast cancer charity would withdraw said support.

yes, by removing funding to an organization that the most at risk women go to because they do not have health insurance or could not afford the examinations on their own.

As you suggested, it would have been better to just send the money to American Cancer Society.

Bottom line - it's a free country. They are FREE to give their money to whichever groups they want.

I, for one, applaud them. They are about life, and they've put there money where their mouth is. It may be a small portion, but a portion all the same. As for the poor and undereducated being used as scapegoats, they would be better served to keep their legs crossed, and avoid pregnancy in the first place.

Please tell me why this act is indicative of the US becoming a banana republic?

We're talking about a little over a million dollars in grants to an organization with a $40 million dollar budget.
