And they call conservatives heartless haters. You'll deny support to a cause they is fighting cancer and helping women, just because they stopped funding a group that provides abortions?

As you suggested, it would have been better to just send the money to American Cancer Society.
I'm not going to get in a debate over whether a charity should give monies to help with breast cancer research or screenings for the poor or whatever. That's impossible to argue one way or the other.

Instead, I would urge everyone to contribute a little something to any charity as you see fit that helps in some facet of this very important issue that spans both prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Everyone gets to vote with their wallet and as one poster pointed out, hopefully this will mean more overall donations over this publicity.

Signed,
A breast cancer widower

I change up my charity portfolio every year. I'll get around to (or back to) the ACS soon enough.

And that's why else a breast cancer charity would withdraw said support.
Liberals were quick to make it political, weren't they?

Great post!

They can still donate to ACS or a host of other good charities.

I'd urge everyone to check out the utilization rates of charities (ie. How much of each $1 donated goes to expenses vs. research, treatment etc.)
as well as their disbursments so you can make an informed decision.

I would hope that while we may disagree on such topics as abortion, that we can all make a contribution to one facet of this very important issue via one of the many many charities tackling this issue.

I, for one, applaud them. They are about life, and they've put there money where their mouth is. It may be a small portion, but a portion all the same. As for the poor and undereducated being used as scapegoats, they would be better served to keep their legs crossed, and avoid pregnancy in the first place.

Please tell me why this act is indicative of the US becoming a banana republic?
Less that 3% of PP services involve abortion. Without them, I wouldn't have known I had precancerous cells on my cervix. I had no insurance and no doctor would even look at me because of my pre existing conditions. I actually went through at least 10 doctors (and I was willing to pay cash) because none of them wanted the hassle.

I donated $50 to PP today so hopefully other women who were in my situation can get screened.

Yes, because cancer screenings, breast exams, and pap smears (the main services that PP provides besides abortion, which very few use the service in comparison with the other services provided) has everything to do with "the poor needing to keep their legs crossed" I'm pretty sure you're against sex education in schools and birth control that is provided to keep people from getting pregnant too. Some conservatives sure are obsessed with what other people do in their bedrooms

There are other organizations and charities that specialize in cancer research and prevention, the ACS being one of them. Nice strawman though.

If the truth be known...............Komen Planned Parenthood Grants Questioned After Mammogram Expose' | LifeNews.com

Now that an expose’ has revealed Planned Parenthood abortion centers do not do mammograms on site but merely refer women to legitimate medical centers that do, a key organization that funds it is facing questions. Every Planned Parenthood, without exception, tells the women calling that they will have to go elsewhere for a mammogram, and many clinics admit that no Planned Parenthood clinics provide this breast cancer screening procedure.

“We don’t provide those services whatsoever,” admits a staffer at Planned Parenthood of Arizona while a staffer at Planned Parenthood’s Comprehensive Health Center clinic in Overland Park, Kansas tells a caller, “We actually don’t have a, um, mammogram machine, at our clinics.”
That information is now raising questions about the millions of dollars the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has given in grants to the abortion business, which it says is partly for mammograms.

Hiller also notes that Planned Parenthood only provides breast exams of the self-exam type women can do on their own or with a trusted friend or family member at home.
