Which, is what they do any way PP has never been setup for this kind of procedure.
It really is sad when people comment about things they obviously know absolutely nothing about.

Yeah. No one said that PP are experts on cancer. They are, however able to provide services that help reduce the risks of cancer (and other diseases) and provide detection (examinations) to help both MEN and WOMEN.

And if a person is diagnosed, they are then referred to specialists (usually that are also covered by public funds or work with the patient so they are able to afford treatment - usually on a deferred payment plan).

I have met many women who are happy that PP is there as its the only "public" clinic they have access to. The women I've met, were able to take care of ongoing health issues, like getting Pap smears, and breast cancer examinations. They also provide help with other issues, like diabetes care.

Poor choices? Tell us how a woman getting a Pap smear to detect cervical cancer is a poor choice.

Tell us how a woman getting tests for diabetes is a poor choice?

Tell us how a woman getting a test done for high blood pressure is a poor choice?

You have an odd definition of what a "poor choice" is.

yes, Enabling women to get the health care need, to catch any ailments that can be cured, should not be supported.
And men, too. PP also provides health services to men.

Screening != treatment. That's what referrals are for.

Default Womb envy males? Say it ain't so!

The claim is that PP doesn't have the capacity to do mammograms, and therefore, is not providing relevant services.

Due in large part to religious modesty in a very different era, no female in my family ever taught me how to do my own manual self breast exam (because they were equally ignorant of their bodies) as the first defense against breast cancer. I had to learn that lesson late from a community outreach provided by planned parenthood and bring it back home to my elders. A simple little instruction card hung from the shower for as long as it took for me to get in good habits I've kept up. Heaven forbid I get low tech self help advice that some lumps showing up are not the end of the world, but a sign I need to lay off caffeine consumption. Some odd reason, Father didn't know best about that particular subject.

This also doesn't take into account the amount of girls plagued by things like genetic disorders giving them a false sense of what normal menstrual cycles are about getting pragmatic help based on science, not the defective male mentality, which has been a problem in medical arts for centuries. It's preposterous that any male with utter contempt for womankind be permitted to exist in the field of ob/gyn or stand on a stage in a dress dictating what womankind is or isn't.

Measure performance proportionately based on how many precarious pregnancies avoided spontaneous abortions and how many prenatal vitamins have been issued for decades on sliding scale or free enabling health vs the amount of abortions they've provided. Then measure that against RTL relentless assertion it's Gods will that only the wealthy may be healthy and funnel billions into abusive legislation. They will not help, but they go very far out of their way to impede those who do. The alleged 'genocide' going on here is a white mans disease instructing black men to hold black women in contempt they way white males have done to their own under the pretense of perverting religious doctrine. Men who worship men are not religious, and neither are the women worshiping males.

PP results: Zero curable diseases destroying my life and zero abortions for me, thanks to being fully educated about prevention and consequences from numerous sources. Planned parenthood being most comprehensive. My catechism passive aggressively avoiding the subject of the intrinsic dignity of women for centuries, not so much. Their failure to teach shouldn't be my, or any other females, lifetime handicap perpetuating dysfunction. That's contrary to their own teachings and to free will itself. It should be an invitation for them to learn beyond their own male centric perspectives theologically animating the hostility & one sided world view against half the species.

BUSTED! I'm convinced they're neither conservative, nor are they capable of learning a damned thing. Stuck on stupid needs an escort out of the building.

Here is a good article that shows both sides, but pretty much repeats what we all have been saying:

Charity pulls plug on Planned Parenthood, inciting critics - USATODAY.com

Quote:
Planned Parenthood Director Cecile Richards told USA TODAY that Komen officials notified her of the funding cut before Christmas and spurned repeated efforts to talk about the decision.

"We share the same mission, but it's never good when women's health care becomes a political issue," Richards says. "We've done thousands of breast examinations of women who have no insurance or who won't go anywhere else. That's why this is so hard to deal with."
Quote:
Others remain concerned about the impact of the cuts. Breast cancer survivor Lani Horne, who blogs at chemobabe.com, says she's worried that women will lose the chance to be screened for cancer. "I've been in poor communities where Planned Parenthood is the best and most reliable source of health care," says Horne, 40, of Nashville. "You are not going to go to the ER for a mammogram."
Quote:
Breast cancer survivor Jody Schoger, from The Woodlands, Texas, says Komen has grown increasingly out-of-touch as it has grown from a small start-up into a fundraising giant. "When an organization that claims to be a leader in breast cancer bows to political pressure from a third party, it's time for another (group) to step forward," Schoger says.
Quote:
"Investigation does not mean guilt," wrote prominent breast surgeon Susan Love, founder of the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, on her blog. " Pro-life should mean not just the lives of babies, but also the lives of women. This is not an either/or situation."

Breast Cancer Action, a San Francisco-based advocacy group, said Komen's decision will hurt poor and minority women the most, noting that one in six women of childbearing age get their health care from Planned Parenthood.

But the decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood comes shortly after Komen unveiled a new partnership that strengthens its ties to the George W. Bush Institute. The institute is the policy-making arm of Bush’s presidential library, which is scheduled to open in Dallas next year.

Founders say the new effort, called the Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon campaign, is an “innovative partnership” aimed at improving breast and cervical screenings for women in developing nations in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.

The founding corporate sponsor is Merck, which is making a financial contribution of $3 million over three years and in-kind contributions to a cervical cancer vaccination program in Tanzania.
Merck, which manufactures the Gardasil vaccine, is a longtime campaign donor to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whose ties to the company were briefly an issue during his failed presidential bid. Rival Michele Bachman accused Perry of pushing the Gardasil vaccine on young girls in Texas at Merck’s behest in 2007.Komen’s Planned Parenthood decision all about politics - She the People: - The Washington Post

The move comes less than a year after Komen hired a new vice president, who has publicly stated her opposition to abortion, a service provided at some Planned Parenthood facilities. Komen's new vice president, Karen Handel, had run for governor of Georgia in 2010 on an aggressively anti-abortion and anti-Planned Parenthood platform and was endorsed by Sarah Palin because of her opposition to reproductive choice. Handel wrote in her campaign blog that she "do[es] not support the mission of Planned Parenthood." Komen Cuts Planned Parenthood Grants Months After Arrival Of New VP, Who Is Abortion Foe

If you DO need more, here it is:

Susan G. Komen charity throws Planned Parenthood under the bus.

Komen claims that their reason is that Planned Parenthood is under investigation from Congress, but as it's well-understood on both the left and the right that the investigation, headed by Rep. Cliff Stearns, is a nuisance investigation that will almost surely turn up nothing, this excuse sounds lame indeed. The likelier explanation is the one offered by Planned Parenthood, that Komen caved under relentless pressure from anti-choice activists who oppose Planned Parenthood for offering abortions as well as low-cost contraception and STD prevention and treatment. In addition, Komen has a history of not playing nice with other women's health organizations.
