Interesting that if this was from Media Matters or some other GE/Soros backed hit squad the lefties would just keep quiet.

This country is going straight down the drain.
In my day, the younger grades got to buy cookies out of a big box of cookies the teacher had and they were a penny each. We did have a limit to the amount we could buy. 5 cookies and we purchased them mid morning and ate them in class.

Barring the fact it reads like a poor version of one of those Onion articles designed to fool conservatives into adding it to their email fwd list, it's hard to believe because no other source has emerged. Surely the Fayetteville Observer or even the Raeford News-Journal would have done a follow-up story by now.

I know, right?

There were at least three threads going today on this subject all accusing Obama of controlling what you pack in your kids' lunches. Some of these people shouldn't even be allowed to vote, drive, or engage in risky activities.

It is seriously laughable to read some of the nay-say posts, I mean take a look at what is going on in this world and this situation is not rare at all.

And let us not forget that chicago also does the same exact thing.
Wanting to know the whole story is nay-saying? Why would you say that? Don't you want to know the whole story before making a judgement? Or are you happy to just fill in the blanks so you can shake your fist at imaginary villains?

The article is riddled with inconsistencies that could be cleared up without disclosing the child's name. Her lunch wasn't confiscated. She brought it home uneaten.

Also, Chicago does not do the same thing. There is a school in Chicago that does not allow outside lunches to be brought in (a policy that I think is rather heavy handed, and worth getting indignant about) Apparently you are pretty comfortable making things up to fill in the blanks.

It was the principal that made that decision

So the district saves money by not having to construct, maintain, insure, and stock a kitchen/ serving area, no need to pay and pension the union lunch ladies either.

They direct the savings to enrichment programs: Foreign language starting in Kindergarten, Stringed instruments starting grade 2, Jr. Detective (reading comprehension, research, clue & fact finding). It also benefits the local economy (The Chinese place can guarantee 400 Chicken & broccoli orders every Wednesday, pizza place, order for 50 pies every Friday, etc.)

Less waste in food area (kids are provide with what they're parents pack for them), and if there is a specific need for to meet the highest magnitude of nutrition, it's on the parents dime, not the public's dime.

Could you imagine what it might cost to dish out poached organic chicken, edemame, fresh bean sprouts, brown rice and a glass of almond milk if it were (from truck to tray) required to pass through unionized hands???
Why do you hate working people?

Those poeple need to stay out of public schools then, not have everyone change for them. I was allergic to dairy the same way. If someone drank milk or ate cheese and then kissed my cheeck, I would get a rash in the shape of their mouth.

I know that it's not easy, but these children should not be out in public school if they have allergies THAT severe! A ban on peanuts is not acceptable.

The difference is this... tax payers are paying for welfare recipients to eat whatever the heck they want to with food stamps. It's a rediculous system, when someone can buy lobster and starbucks capacinos with food stamps.

Where as children going to school should NOT be told what their PARENTS can and cannot send with them to school!!

If I'm paying for my child's lunch, they will eat what I want them to. If I'm paying for someone else's lunch on welfare, then they shouldn't be able to buy the most expensive food in the store with FS.

If the government was telling FS recipients they couldn't eat frozen chicken nuggets and could only buy "healthy" foods and snacks, few people on either side of the issue would get upset with this. But they aren't doing that, they are telling everyday, non-FS recipient, hard working mom's & dads what they can feed their own children. THAT is unacceptable!

Get the difference?
