Most of the "teapartiers" are not racists. I don't know what a religious right nut is. Some people take their religion very seriously and it doesn't matter if they are right or left in their political views.

As a libertarian, when the tea party first started I thought they sounded good (low taxes/free mkt) but it quickly became apparent that they mixed in a lot of authoritarian social views. Religious right is the American Taliban types like Santorum. I don't like theocracy. These are the same types that ruined the true limited government nature of GOP, and that Goldwater railed against in his final years

Just what authoritarian social views do most of the teapartiers adhere to? Link, please. Opinions don't count.

Although I don't like Santorum he bases his views on his religious convictions. Why is this considered to be far "right"? There are many Americans in this country that hold strong religious views and it isn't just a "righty" thing.

Oh come off it, you know people like Santorum hate gays, he doesn't even believe in birth control WITHIN marriage. And even Romney (panderingly who knows what his true views are on anything) agreed when Santorum said we need to "go after" pornography. I agree porn is not the healthiest thing in the world always, but do we not have a high degree of free speech in USA from the First Amendment? It is a slippery slope to me. See, I almost got suckered into to the tea party. At first Glenn Beck even called himself a "libertarian." But now I realize there is really no hope within the two parties, and will probably vote for Gary Johnson, (real) Libertarian for President.

oh, and as far as original topic, a lot of white liberals/progressives ARE racist, in a nutshell, there is an underlying assumption that minorities can't make it on their own and NEED big government, and they try to "shame" fellow whites into supporting failed welfare state policies. I notice many of them get flustered when trying to argue this point to a minority like me, their white liberal guilt trip is suddenly moot and they have to try to defend these failed programs on the merits. And a lot of them are VERY insular/cliqueish. Some rednecks may say some insensitive things at times, but they usually mix more with minorities in the end and can at least let loose and have a good time

Hate? So objection to the gay lifestyle equates to hate? Birth control is personal view/conviction that doesn't mean that the teapartiers all agree with that. I asked for links to what the majority of the teapartiers stand for and you provided none instead you keep harping about Santorum who is only one individual. He views things from his religious point of view. As I said, I never like Santorum but for different reasons.

see, now you're just playing dumb. Even though I have disagreed with you on immigration threads, I don't percieve you to be stupid. I think you understand my point that these religious right nuts are only a couple steps removed from the Taliban (in mentality if not actions) and have ruined a party, the GOP, that once truly stood for individual liberty and limited government

I am not playing dumb. You are using the radicals to stereotype the entire GOP and the Teaparty organization, that's what's dumb. There are radicals within the Democrats also. Should we stereotype them all based on that?

Lol... Radicals don't become front-runners of their political primary.
Radicals don't eject long-term incumbents for not being appearing to be sufficiently supportive of their pet causes.
Radicals don't get visits from Presidential candidates

Face it... these "radicals" have been a backbone off the Republican party for the last 50 years.

Here is the latest example of how liberals legislate racism- they now want students to be able to state their racial preferrence of their teachers! Specifically, black male teachers.

A Black Male Teacher for Every Student!
Black males represent only one out of every 50 teachers, and that's a major social problem, according to the federal government. The solution is de rigueur racial preferences and more government spending. With that solution in mind, the federal government is now going to devote untold resources to a program called the TEACH Campaign.
So much for MLK's dream of a color-blind America. How do the Democrats get away with putting the race blame on Republicans when it is they who insist on legislating such blatant racism in the first place?
Hey, look who's suddenly become a fan of MLK & his ideology!
