Don't believe it????
Those are fundamental moral guidelines that have been part of the human culture far longer than your bible has even existed.

I usually stop listening at that point so I don't know what they are doing. I support the idea that they aren't thinking for themselves so they have to fall back on what other people think and since I'm not talking to those other people I loose interest in the convo pretty quick.

The Bible is, in addition to other things, history and cumulative wisdom of the ages. Not all of those crazy "laws" in the OT are applicable in today's world but for the time and the people they were intended for, it was appropriate. To discard the entire Bible, simply because it's "the Bible" and you don't accept it, is to throw out the baby with the bath water.

Because they think everyone else is as idiotic and easily influenced as they are.

So they think they can "asert " themselves by yielding the "power" of biblical text. Much like the Muslims and their Quran text.

There's a great and sad irony in it.

I see very little difference between your average Bible bangor and political hardliner. neither is willing to think for themselves and niether is willing to look at their belief system and question its veracity. Because I said so seems to be the driving point for both.

Because they have been trained to believe that the Bible is basically God, which is a form of idolatry, which makes it pretty ironic.

"Respect for God is the beginning of all wisdom". I certainly wouldn't expect the garden variety fool to agree with this one.

The comments you make on a routine basis, display no respect for god, whatsoever. You haven't a clue what respect for God is.

Take your self-righteous, self-annointed delusions and shove them.
