I really shouldn't have said anything about it, but I forget I'm back on the "mod squad" sometimes! Not intentionally trying to use my mod-power, I swear. Anyway, moving on now.
And I still don't see how either of us were being sexist, by assuming a person we can't see was a man. I dunno, but their posts just didn't seem very feminine-minded to me! Maybe it's because we encounter more male homophobes here, since women are generally more accepting of differences - especially related to gender and sexuality.
My fav 2112 came on the radio the other day to my surprise. I had my kids in the car and told em this was one of the best bands of all time and they of course just rolled their eyes. lol

We've already gone over this topic ad nauseum, and history has shown the "million moms" can't do squat - aside from bobbing their heads and squawking like chickens, at least. Who really cares what they say, or for that matter what a private company does with their advertising? Don't like it, don't shop there. End of story.

Lol, the first time my 20yo daughter ever heard the 1st side of 2112, she asked me if I owned it, and snatched it and listened to it until she got it.
I got lucky to have a kid that loves classic rock as much as myself.

I still remember the first time I heard that album... probably around the year 1993, driving through town with my best friend, and she popped "2112" into the cassette player. OMG, I was mesmerized from the first chord - and it quickly became one of my favorite albums ever. My parents are kind of nerdy in their musical taste, so it took my friends to introduce me to the truly great classic rock bands/albums.

I agree "Million Moms" Can't to squat and I firmly support JCPenneys decision...
I know all about all of that. But the new CEO who use to work with Steve Jobs, had a vision and yes it is working.
Most of the stores that i frequent, are doing really well since the new format, new prices, and everyday low prices, best prices and Happy Returns.
Since the new Ceo has joined, most of the stores i frequent are getting gains, beleive me, i know, i would hear it if they did not have gains. They get a scolding.
They have some very nice home decor items very nice. New line of clothes, and a lot of petite style which i love.
Your right though to see the true effect of the new CEO, time will tell. But for the stores i go into, they sincerely are making gains.
Of course some stores had to close, Best Buy closed a lot of Stores, look at this freaking economy, thanks to u know who!
What about them? Most "soccer moms" I know (including my very own) wouldn't care about this ad, and it certainly wouldn't stop them from shopping at JCP.
