WASHINGTON - The Bush administration said Monday the only way to permanently fix Social Security is through some combination of benefit cuts and tax increase
I'd much rather control my own earnings and if it works out the way I plan, great, if it doesn't, I'll deal with it. But I'd rather take care of my own money instead of letting daddy government take care of it and promise one day if I don't die before I retire they'll throw me a freakin bone for my investments.
SOCIAL SECURITY should have been cut a long time ago, or at least renamed, INTEREST FREE LOAN FORCED FROM CITIZENS FOR THE GOVERNMENT.
This story is as big a news item as "water is found to be wet."
Anybody who believes Social Security doesn't need an adjustment in collections and/or payouts in the near future has obviously been in an extended coma.
So, the Bush administration is saying that, to make Social Security "solvent", changes need to be made - and, some have an argument with that? The Social Security system is broke! It needs changes -
I find it interesting that the only party talking about making any kind of changes - to make Social Security solvent, is the Bush Administration -
I wish someone who is "Anti Bush", could tell us, exactly what proposals, if any, have come from the Democrats to reform / fix Social Security?
Anyone?
Seems I recall the POTUS saying a few years ago that "here is my proposal - let's talk" - and the Democrats REFUSED to come to the table - why?
Personally, I favor privatizing part of SS - let the workers decide where THEIR money should be invested - why are the democrats so afraid of letting the PEOPLE make their OWN decisions????

Oh No, you are wrong.
There is nothing wrong with Social security as long as the goverment stops dipping into it.
Look at the billions they are spending on the war........a war the majority did not want.
Bottom line, the republicans don't give a hoot about the people and vote for cutting programs that benefit the vunerable.I know I dont' a decrease in my income. Do you???????
I worked long and hard for years only now to collect what is rightfully mine.
And how dare they touch this.
