Why?

Litigation in a similar case favors the KKK’s position. In 2005, the Missouri Department of Transportation lost a case in the U.S. Supreme Court after denying a highway-adoption application from another KKK chapter. With the help of the American Civil Liberties Union—a strange bedfellow for the Southern white-supremacist group—the KKK argued successfully before the Court that the First Amendment barred the DOT from denying an application because it disagreed with an organization’s political agenda.

And if the KKK sues, Georgia will lose. I suppose Georgia thought it was worth a shot. The problem is, if the ACLU becomes involved again it doesn't cost the KKK anything.

The NAACP, and Black Panthers do not care if we know who they are or what they look like.

Thanks for the above article. If true it seems that Georgia may get away with this as it was likely only a publicity stunt on the part of the KKK and they have no real plans to become a part of the program.

The GDOT also said that the section of roadway requested is ineligible for adoption because its posted speed limit of 65 mph exceeds the program's maximum of 55 mph. A letter of denial is being sent to the group.

That would be a proper and legal position for the state.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets see here, The majority of the U.S. Population is white and has been white. There is a history of whites oppressing non whites. Non whites had to ride on the back of the bus and drink out of separate fountains just 50 years ago. If your group was getting lynched and shot by a bunch of paranoid racist whites, you don't think they have a right to form a party like the Black Panthers that protects them from Racist white police?

The KKK dressed as ghost and rode around killing blacks and till this day sit around waiting for a race war to take place. However you know this already and are just trying to find another way to show your hate for Black people. It's like the "Why do Blacks get a BET" argument. Why don't you complain about the other groups that have channels that are geared toward them? Because you're hatred of Black people overcomes you.
