SCOTUS blog saying that individuals can simply refuse to pay the tax (buy health insurance or pay the penalty) and not comply with the mandate.

No problem. Just a good thing I don't have to pay that tax if I decided not to, without consequence.

Righties have been celebrating their expected "win" for months. Egg on faces.

I agree with the others, upholding the mandate as a tax opens the way to single payer which is what this SHOULD have been from the start and what every single other 1st world nation has.

No, you will go to jail for not paying the tax, unless exempt, which is what I said here ages ago and left wing kooks tried telling me how wrong I was..

Live blog of Supreme Court ruling on health care - This Just In - CNN.com Blogs

Upheld 5-4

Looking forward to the soothsayers and fortune tellers to come out saying what is going to happen. No one knows what is going to happen until it happens. You are all just guessing. Experts from all sides are saying something different so how can anyone sit here and say they know what is going to happen?

The old system was a proven failure, and I was getting tired of all the political pandering and back and forth with the whole issue.

I'm on the SCOTUS live blog - someone explain this to me.

The court reinforces that individuals can simply refuse to pay the tax and not comply with the mandate.

Refuse to pay the tax? Who does this without fear of the IRS?

EDIT: This just got corrected.

Apologies - you can't refuse to pay the tax; typo. The only effect of not complying with the mandate is that you pay the tax.
