Shouldn't we really be asking which group is most like the Native Americans?

Have you noticed the same people who think Jews have a right to "reclaim" their land in Israel do not believe the same of American Indians?

Since all Native Americans have learned English long ago and have assimilated into American culture, I don't think those newcomers that haven't can be compared with them.

'Traditional' American virtues are about much more than simply who is the most aggressive and achievement-oriented. In fact seems to me that anyone who would even consider some sort of "Hispanic pecking order", is pretty "un-American" to begin with!

And BTW, explain to us again how domestic terrorism and militant cuban exiles (some with ties to the Kennedy Assassination) are good examples of "cultural assimilation"?

I don't think I'd agree with that.

Well -- maybe in some ways some haven't assimilated -- but no way can you compare them with someone who has recently arrived from some foreign country.

They would be like the opposite of any immigrant.

No. Live in Miami, where hardly anyone speaks English.

I don't see any of the tribes that were indigenous to "this" country trying to reclaim any lands.

Depends. Towns where the hispanic population is low, they assimilate quickly into society.

But thats usually not the case.

I think like Puerto Ricans and Cubans have assimilated much better into American society than Mexicans though.

They just take over towns and they become so overly hispanic they don't even bother to learn english anymore. Than well, these towns turn into dumps.
