Many are unaware that side-by-side with the “expansion of Medicaid to cover more Americans” that is being talked about — there is currently on the desk of The Secretary of HHS Kathleen Sebelius for her approval sinister plans to modify Medicare by eliminating Free Choice.

Fifteen states , (the largest being California) are trying to take away free choice in Health Care that Medicare has meant for 47 years by placing the Medicare-Medicaid population passively (without their request) into HMO Care.

I have written this petition to send the message to Washington not to go down this path.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/695/668/005/do-not-passively-place-californias-dual-eligibles-into-managed-care/

(1) it wastes taxpayer’s (the 99%’s) money by giving billions as a windfall to the HMO companies (run by the 1%)
&
(2) it endangers the lives of Seniors by taking away their choice of Doctor , Hospital , Long Term Facility, and Therapists.

Please go the petition site

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/695/668/005/do-not-passively-place-californias-dual-eligibles-into-managed-care/

and help send our message to preserve Free Choice for Medicare patients . Thank you
Annmarie Small, CA

I don't understand why you guys don't even do rudimentary research before you make declarations. Austerity failed in Europe and it's sort of well-known that's true.
They arent following Republican policies. Most of them are far more socialistic then we are

We've got more people on food stamps than in out history. More people on disability (which also skyrocketed under Obama). And unemployment is still extremely high.

That Obama Kool Aid must taste pretty good for anyone to actually think the USA is doing great!
I was just giving you the source of the graph. I would never answer your actual questions because I don't think you respect other people's opinions, or facts that come from sources you don't "like." No one on this forum has been able to answer OP's original questions, so it's just become about the economy under Obama. If you don't like Obama's performance I respect that, don't vote for him. But that's not what this thread is about.

So... capping the budget deficit was not a Republican idea? Reducing the government workforce and their pay is not a Republican idea?

Because we know better than that. Every place that attempted to implement austerity had riots and their leaders thrown out before it had a chance to work.

Have you anything that shows that NOT pursuing austerity has succeeded?

You obviously didn't bother to READ all of the responses then.

I don't have the right anymore to board a plane without going through a full body scanner or being subjected to a very invasive body search.

Farmers lost their right to privacy on their own land through the spy drone surveillance

American citizens have been murdered overseas without due process of law

I don't have the right to decide on my own if I really need to buy health insurance without paying a tax.

Why don't you give us an article that says that? Why don't you back up anything you say? I do. I can't give you facts and then have you insist that your unilateral declarations are still more correct. You're just wasting my time even more, and disrespecting me.

For the record, your assertion is incorrect, at least in Italy. The new leaders are expected to put more measures into place:

Quote:
On 15 July and 14 September 2011, Italy's government passed austerity measures meant to save €124 billion.[181][182] Nonetheless, by 8 November 2011 the Italian bond yield was 6.74 percent for 10-year bonds, climbing above the 7 percent level where the country is thought to lose access to financial markets.[183] On 11 November 2011, Italian 10-year borrowing costs fell sharply from 7.5 to 6.7 percent after Italian legislature approved further austerity measures and the formation of an emergency government to replace that of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.[184]
The measures include a pledge to raise €15 billion from real-estate sales over the next three years, a two-year increase in the retirement age to 67 by 2026, opening up closed professions within 12 months and a gradual reduction in government ownership of local services.[178] The interim government expected to put the new laws into practice is led by former European Union Competition Commissioner Mario Monti.[178]

I am going to close citydata now because it makes me sad.

I really NEED to show you articles that link to the riots in Greece??? Or articles that link to stories about the leadership of France, Greece, etc. being voted OUT because they pursued austerity?

Seriously.....you need to READ world news more!!

And if you really want to back-up your claim, then show us where NOT pursuing austerity got them out of crisis.

Facts are extremely difficult things for conservatives.

Probably the best argument against austerity is to look at the charts of GDP for European countries currently in the midst of austerity than look at the chart for the United States

Thank you for this information. I had not realized that Obama was the President way back in 2001 when TSA was created and its rules were promulgated. Nor did I think he was President when the Dept of Homeland Security was created. And to think, all this time I wrongfully thought Pres Bush was running the Country then. How silly of me!
