Oh....and you'd have to be a simpleton to think that austerity measures would completely turn things around in one to two years....meanwhile they are voting those leaders out of office and rioting against the austerity.

Obama's now had close to 4 years and things haven't improved much at all.

If you read my comments on that topic, I specifically said that it was under OBAMA that we started being scanned by full body scanners and invasive bodily searches.

Probably the best QUESTION to ask yourself is exactly what type of policies got those European nations INTO the economic mess that they are in?

And...do you want to follow that same path?

Then how about something from a source a little “closer to home”, like the conservative/libertarian Hoover Institute, ironically named for the President whose own austerity approach is widely credited with deepening the Great Depression!

Beyond Austerity
by Richard A. Epstein (Peter and Kirsten Bedford Senior Fellow and member of the Property Rights, Freedom, and Prosperity Task Force)

We must liberalize labor markets, not rely on macroeconomic “fixes.”

Grim is the right word to describe the latest economic news from both the European Union and the United States. Throughout the European Union, austerity programs have failed both politically and economically. In Spain, unemployment rates have soared above 24 percent. The Dutch government is on the edge of collapse because of the popular and political unwillingness to accept the austerity program proposed by its conservative government.

BTW, the very nerve of Obama, that commie, socialist dictator with nazi tendencies... how dare he help avert another Depression, hunt down and eliminate our greatest enemies since 9/11, and try to provide all Americans with affordable health care... DAM his Kenyan, muslim pinko azz!!!

Then you are the rarity, I assume you have had no major health issus you would be amoung the others I and others have to pay for.
Sure pay the bills, but letting the Nations major industries down down in flames when we can do otherwise is also stupidity.
Please show us WHO was killed that was not, or I will use that LIE word on You. I care about rights and I also know the safety of Americans comes first, I guess you would rather wait till the body count gets into the thousands before acting.

That view is entirely wrong. Just like World War II, the objective is to grow out of debt -- make the economy grow so that the debt is insignificant. Incidentally, the interest on the debt is the same as in 2006.

Let's be honest here, nobody with a shred of common sense is happy with where the economy is right now. But to say things haven't improved since the first quarter of 2009 is ridiculous.

Now lot how much things have improved the United States in the past three years and it COMPLETELY BLOWS A HOLE IN YOUR ASSERTIONS ABOUT AUSTERITY.

Hmmm, well, before he was sworn into office we did not have the right to call him by his middle name, now we can.

So actually we have more rights and freedoms now.

Obviously you do not work in an industry where 0bama and his EPA are regulating you into the stone-age.

Self appointed masterminds like 0bama, are busy micromanaging our lives and limiting all of the choices available to us. Sure, we have the right to engage in commerce and buy a light bulb, an automobile, a kitchen appliance, or health care insurance plan, but they will decide which ones are legally allowed to be manufactured or sold to us.

In 0bama's mind, he is not a tyrant, he just knows what is best for us, and he is using to power and force of the federal government to ensure that is all we are allowed to do.

0bama: "So, if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can — it’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted."

So you see, we will still have the freedom to build a coal-fired power plant, but it will just be impossible to so and earn a profit. So what's the big deal, no freedoms are taken away.

You lost the right to board an aircraft without being examined first long before Obama took office. The X-ray machines are just a new addition to an older issue. You can rest assured that more intrusive machines will be developed in the future.

Since you blame Obama for this, I assume you were alright with having lost the right to board an airplane under Bush, so long as it didn't involve X-rays and groping?
