A better plan would be to investigate why the government was supplying a nutcase in Aurora many thousands of dollars so that he didn't have to work for a living and could order all the weapons and bombs to kill people.

Follow the money -- someone gave that loser a whole lot of money -- why? We already know the government was giving him money.

Once you take away the LEGALLY owned guns, you have illegal ones, in the hands of criminals. How do you propose to deal with them, since now only THEY and the Police are armed?

What do you take away next? Cars? Gas? Fertilizer? Baseball bats? Crowbars?

Hey, here's an idea, take away the super soakers, they can be filled with alkali or acid!

It's not guns that are the problem, it's people.. Your only solution is to take away the people...

Or is it that simple? What do we do with the MILLIONS of guns, already legally possessed by people? Kick in their doors and confiscate them? Send the police (brown shirts) into peoples homes and businesses, and forcibly take their firearms from them?

What about the MILLIONS, and I do mean MILLIONS of firearms, which aren't registered to anyone? What about the MILLIONS of firearms which WERE registered, which have been sold, transferred, etc to other persons and their is no record of this? What do we do now?

Background checks, waiting periods, etc I am all for. I have no problems with them. Of course, a waiting period and background check would not have stopped the moron in Aurora from getting his firearms. So, I am asking the liberal anti gun crowd:

What would you do? What is it you want?

The ONLY way to get firearms off the streets, is to institute some sort of "martial law." Then, send the police and military into people's homes, without warrants, search them, and recover ALL firearms. Doesn't matter if they were legally or illegally obtained. Without confiscating these firearms, "gun control" is a worthless idea; all meant to make some liberals "feel good."

My firearms will be in my locked safe. They will last longer then ANY of us on this board will be alive. HUNDREDS of years. So ban them. Ok. Mine and MILLIONS of others will be still be here. What are you going to do with the millions already in the United States? Say, well, "Ok. At least we are doing something?" Again, so you can "feel good?"

"Gun Control" is another liberal lie, for GUN BANNING. At least you liberals should be honest and tell the US and world the truth. You don't want "control." You want to ban the private ownership of firearms. THAT is your goal. Plain and simple.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
--Thomas Jefferson, quoting Cesare Beccaria in On Crimes and Punishment (1764).

Smart man, you should listen.

When will folks finally learn that banning things only makes the problem 10x worse?

Take away guns and the people intent in murdering people with start using another means of killing. Should we take these items away when they start using them or in advance? Let's ban guns, bows and arrows, axes, chainsaws, knives, swords, rope, etc. Maybe we should also ban shoelaces. We couldn't ban belts because we would have a bunch of overweight men with their pants down around their ankles. But what do we do with the murderers who use their bare hands. I guess we will just have to walk around in straight jackets and not have access to any pointy objects to be safe from each other.

"No Ralphie, you cannot have a BB gun. You'll shoot your eye out."

This is true, but do we need 100 round clips and body piercing ammunition?

We can still have guns for personal protection, without giving lunatics the means of killing mass amounts of people at the same time.

If this lunatics gun didn't jam, it would have been significantly worse.

There is a middle ground where those who want guns for protection can still get them, and where we don't hand a child a hand grenade.

Sure, look how well that idea worked for marijuana, cocaine, speeding, liquor in th 1920s, etc.

The country is SO much better off for having banned those things, eh?

And now the government-uber-alles loons just can't wait to do it again.....

Ha. Speaking of children...

Liberals live in a fantasy land where if the people were controlled just a little more, everything would be rainbows and unicorns. Just a couple more laws, and society will be changed forever. I've always thought that they just didn't get it, but recently I've become convinced that they really don't care, as long as they can feel good about themselves.

Notice that the anti gun crowd doesn't even attempt to produce facts to back up their positions. I'm the first to admit that everyone is wrong sometimes, left, right, etc, but this is one of the very few areas where any group of people is just completely 100% dead wrong.

But of course, to them, absolutely nothing is more powerful than the emotional wave that overcomes them when they hear about a tragic, yet isolated, even such as this. Positions based on feelings and whims. Kind of like... children.

If you think this most recent act of violence in CO (committed by a guy with no qualms about breaking laws, and the knowledge to make bombs) would have been stopped by any gun law, you are a complete idiot, and you'd be doing your country a favor by not involving yourself in the political process.
