It may be envy mixed with hatred of Hollywood self righteousness.

I love California, but alway root against California.

It's simply because the state is in economic crisis...the result of overspending caused by one sided Democrat rule.

You sure you still want to go with that borderline insane "envy" assumption
I think Alaska could give Hawaii a run for its money in the "better scenery" and "better beaches" categories. Alaska also does not have any bankrupt cities, and the only State that can claim they are $54+ billion in the black. However, I do understand your point and you are correct, it has absolutely nothing to do with "envy." ROFLMAO!

The troubled children in adult bodies there: Who do you think is gobbling up all the 'free' porn on the internet? They're the dressed tourists showing up with binoculars and cameras to nudist beaches. Give nothing but grief, and take take take. The 'winning' plan. I'm convinced Vegas, and all it's ancillary vices, were built with them in mind. The $2.99 glutton buffet, the 24/7- 365 day mardi gras, the Elvii preachers punching off the clock of religious convictions, and a whole lot more.

The sincere religious among them- their voices are drown out by ostentatious nonsense that never genuinely represented them. Decent leadership is either ignored or becomes a target for malevolence. Popularity contests win out over righteousness based on how many dollars show up as the basket is passed around in the pews. Prosperity preachers make more $$$ than main line faiths. That reign of terror mentioned in American history never really did end for them. Real republicans are white men lynched in SC for standing up to what calls itself republican today. Same in WV. They're the Baptists who said no to slavery and were persecuted. I'm Catholic and can see which protestants are outright fake, and which are being messed with the same as the early Church was swarmed by heretics corrupting faith into a master manipulators power grab. This goes above and beyond tribal identities. It goes to the heart of principles that are the signature of a good Jew or a good Christian.

So what are you doing in this thread, Joe? Offer nothing but heckling (even if it's in my favor)? Are you becoming one of those cheesy tourists? What are you trying to solve? What are you contributing to the solution? If my NY bluntness must be bottle into a meme: Screw validation. California is in trouble. So is America. Enough with the pity party. It doesn't matter how wrong your ideas might be. Put it out there and we'll see if it can stand in it's own boots. Collaborating is what built this nation. Not one founder hoarding glory all for himself. That's what made them a transcendent nobility beyond shallow measures of wealth or pedigree. That's the guy fit for an American gal. That's the land that I love. Not the crappiocca sycophant Ayn Rand sold.

Modesty, humility, and brotherhood of man are a crime in your religious beliefs. I do not recognize the religion you're practicing as valid. Cult, yes. Religion, no.

"Here" implies you're living there, but you aren't a native of the state. You aren't native flavor. Not by a long shot.
Social conservative extremes are dixiecrats in their representation. Most of the social conservative moderates in main stream constituency struggle to articulate what it is they're intent on defending, which ultimately leaves them ripe for exploitation by weasels with the same tired tools in their drawer. Whatever legitimate concerns they do have will be resolved with a better set of tools, not broken religious dogma. Prop 8 had targeted audiences and targeted propaganda.

Exploiting stereotypes people harbor to keep them trapped in ignorance is standard chops for disinformation marketeers on Madison ave. Most have the sense God gave geese to loathe them. You're bound to lose, Nelly Oleson.

Sidebar: Western & I are irrelevant to the best interests of cali attempting to self determine, but only one of us knows that for fact. Native Californians of every political stripe need to take a good hard look at the propaganda that was pointed at them specifically and examine it on the basis of it's truthfulness, and it's promotion/ reinforcement of stereotypes that still exist in main stream America. The propaganda I saw implied the 'gay agenda' was the government printing license to train children in public schools how to engage in homosexual activity. They also need to examine the origins of certain population sets that are transplants altering the terrain to recreate their origins. The same accusations that Denver kid made to cali exports applies to cali imports as well. Frost's message 'Good fences make good neighbors' is not the instruction to build a great wall of China. It's deeper meaning is a tale about appropriate boundaries in general human relations. That's a multi culti NY muscle that developed out of necessity when the turnstile of America had multi millions trampling through our tulips coming off the boats. We lived. You will too.

Decades of liberal policies have created the perfect example of just how ruinous those policies can be.

There was no middle class. The middle class came to be because northern & western dems defeated monopoly. With the unions. With the Churches. Republicans sided with new age plantation masters and were defeated for selling the country out. Until new age republicans found new age plantation masters and commence to selling the country out all over again. The very guys you defend to the death as they sell you the beer that tells you to vote republican.

California should aspire to model themselves after the examples of TX & OK?

States rights people sure do spend an inordinate amount of time panhandling congress, and yet incredulously, see fit to dictate to all other states how they ought to solve the problems they created after dumping it on everyone else's doorstep.

Marv you sound a lot like that Enron guy. Any relation?

California has been in an economic crisis since Jerry Brown was Governor in 1975, and the morons in California elected him again.

Jay F is spot-on as usual; rampant overspending, refusing to accept blame for the state's current fiscal meltdown, and ludicrously attempting to blame Prop. 13 for those financial woes is yet another chapter from the 'pass-the-buck' Democrats in Suckramento who continue to mimic the policies of President 'Pass The Buck' in Washington, DC.

Oklahoma's UE rate is 4.7%; compare that rate to California's, and there's your answer.

The Texas economy continues to thrive, since the housing crash missed the Lone Star State.

I feel the same, but I strongly disagree that it is a Jesus institution. People playing God are not worshiping God.

Azuza street nutters came from the south making their way through the midwest. There's a long warped history of "2nd great awakening" revivalism snaking it's way across America. Most of what was going on had nothing to do with Christianity. It had nothing to do with California's culture (liberal or conservative) either. This Jesus institution is a vestige of all that noise from long ago.

Who is to blame for Mormons? History of the Latter Day Saint movement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
The founder of the movement was Joseph Smith, Jr., who was raised in the Burned-over district of Upstate New York.
They started their shennanigans in upstate NY, which was having none of it, and ran them out. Baptists in Bible belt also ran them out. Illinois said hell no. Mormons to this day tell their elaborately spun persecution tale how all other 'fake' religions try to steal their religion from them.

So who should be blamed for what Mormons do presently when they're baptizing the dead? All the states who told them to talk to the hand? Or the entire state of Utah? Or the authority representing Mormonism?
