He most probably was a contributing member of society who paid SS without fail. He probably was fighting for the freedom which you now take for granted and the rights for you to post your opinions, no matter how stupid. So while your still whining and peeing in your pampers cause you don't like the way things are perhaps you should also look up the meaning of shared sacrifice.
I was thinking about that. If they were 70ish there's a chance that they were in Vietnam. In which case they'd probably be talking about the weapon the shooter used, not tying him to Obama somehow. If you see them again OP check and see if one of them is wearing a cap that says "U.SS. Something", say "thank you" and offer to get him a refill.

They might just offer you a seat and you'd have a chance to learn something. (Then you could also ask them why they believe what they do instead of drawing a bunch of conclusions which may or may not be true.)

Best post so far this month. I doubt it will be topped.

Thank you.

>I hope you know that typical _monthly_ medicare premiums are in the triple digits. and it has to be paid every month- that's right 12x a year, so it's not a cadillac plan especially when you consider lifelong contributions into it. it 's auto-deducted from seniors' monthly social security direct deposit.<

Ill take that over $1400 a month for a typical weak family plan ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

google the ROI on every penny you put into Medicare. The older you are the greater it is and its something along the lines of 3times including like 8% interest. The govt lied to you too. You are owed no more nor less than everyone else they lied to.

Too bad. The reality is that the debt issue is mostly divided into 2 groups:
a: people who are determined to remain ignorant about the severity of the situation and are unwilling to sacrifice to fix the problem; and
B: people who bytch about the severity of the situation and are unwilling to sacrifice to fix the problem.

No argument there. But if that's the case, the seniors should DEMAND that gov't cut other programs (like defense, pork barrels) for the sake of the taxes paid into the system by themselves and their children and grandchildren. If they don't, then they should contribute in the form of paying more for their medicare just as future generations are currently being asked to do. They need to have some "skin in the game" too instead of just whining about that "ol socialist O-bama."

I don't doubt you one bit. My 7th grade band teacher is involved in the local Veterans band, which plays at veterans events at no charge. He is definitely someone whom I admire. These old codgers taking were mid to late 70s, too old for Nam.

The old geezer listens to a radio personality by the name of lindsay. I thought that he said "hal lindsay", but I think that hal lindsay was "goober" from andy griffith show.

To those that say that this man paid SS taxes for 35 years, let me remind you that younger people are also paying SS/medicare taxes (at a much higher percentage) and that they deserve no less than what this old guy is receiving. To the poster that claimed that I don't know about Medicare premiums, he couldn't be more wrong. I sell med supplements to older americans all of the time. Current Med Part B premium is $99.90/mo for most ppl, a real bargain to older Americans. Med Advantage plans were overpaid by the federal gov't. That is why the $50 billion is being slowly transferred over 10 years to a more equitable, stabilized monthly capitation rate and a new rating system that rewards outcomes rather than just paying them for procedures.

Gov't needs to cut other things before they touch my benefits that I've been paying for.
I never once heard them say it was at AM.....all I heard was that it happened in College Station...And how would you know if I am a right winger or a left winger!!!!!!

College Station local news said "near A&M" which it was near the campus..close enough that a code maroon went out to students.
