Do you "accept" that some of the world does not believe in Freedom of Speech?

Some people in the US don't believe in freedom of speech, some people on this forum don't believe in it

The president didn't mean that other people in the world don't believe that freedom of speech is a good thing. He means that people who don't have freedom of speech don't think anyone any where really has it. If you've always lived under a dictatorship where you aren't free to speak your mind, then how to you learn or understand what true freedom of speech really is?

It is not the place of the United States to impose American standards on other countries. It is really irrelevant whether the USA accepts, reject, or stands silent regarding what is considered normal elsewhere. The freedom of speech is more restrictive in England, and that country doesn't even have a written constitution. Should we insist they adopt our ways of doing things? In most Middle Eastern countries, blasphemy is a crime. In America, it would be protected under the 1st Amendment. Should we make it a crime, or should we meddle in their internal affairs and insist they change their centuries-old customs? Americans have no right to tell Arab governments they have the wrong rules. We should keep our noses out of their affairs.

I am not saying we are to wage war on those that don't have freedom of speech but we should reject not accept it. All Americans should be aware how powerful and essential the fundamental right to say what you want is. We should look down on those who don't accept that. It is a form of tryanny.

I do not know how you can be an American and enjoy and understand the freedom we have and think that the rest of the world should not have these same rights. They are basic human rights everyone should have.
Well if you don't accept it...yet you don't want to wage a war to stop then what do you propose to do? Just say "we don't accept that" and leave it at that? What difference does that make? This just seems like picking nits to criticize Obama. If you're not willing to wage a war or do anything to stop it then in reality you accept that not all countries acknowledge free speech rights.

What's "foolish" is not to understand the world in which we live.
