It appears as though Obama supporters have no answer for this bomb that is about to be dropped on all seniors as of January 1st.
When MANY practices drop Medicare (as they will lose money on every patient), a healthcare crisis will be created. Obama cannot compel any physician to accept medicare if they do not want to do so.
So tell me, Obama supporters, what will Obama do? Does any senior here know what is about to happen to them?
You think all this big effort Obama made and he didn't even know all this? Didn't know anything about those on Medicare? Yes, this is Obamacare. What do you think Obamacare is all about?
This has nothing to do with Obamacare and has happened every year for the past 10 years. Congress is the one that can act on this. Read the links.

The $716 billion in cuts to medicare DO have something to do with obamacare, and the cuts in January, 2013 are the precursor to the permanent cuts that obamacare brings. Liberals don't apparently don't know much about the FACT that primary care doctors are already either limiting medicare patients, or outright eliminating them from their practices. This is FACT, not speculation, and can this poster can certify this from personal experience. This phenomenon is being accelerated by the FACT that reimbursements to physicians are going to be permanently cut at the implementation of obamacare. I'm certain that the administration (if Obama is reelected) will apply pressure to go ahead with the physician cuts so the government can get its claws into the healthcare industry earlier.
If you liberals think the $716 billion that obamacare cuts from medicare will not be on the minds of those who wish to dodge the "doctor fix", then you are sadly informed.
And AARP was behind Obamacare. Many seniors just went along with AARP's recommendations.
AARP stands to make billions though from it's insurance now. There were financial reasons why AARP backed Obamacare.
The support of Obamacare was the very reason I got out of AARP and I had been with them over 25 years. I just can't believe that anyone can't see what doctors are having to do now because of Medicare and it is going to get worse for them when the law starts to kick in. I am so glad I live in a small town where my doctor won't be quitting soon, and can still get me in to see specialists since I have been to so many of them already.

You really don't understand that what Hawkeye said in the OP was about Obamacare and Medicare, do you? Maybe you need to look into it all a bit further than you seemingly have.

As of January 1st, there is a slated 30% cut in physician reimbursement via medicare. Currently medicare fees are much lower than regular private insurance (many times by 3 fold). Practices have a fixed overhead for staff, space and equipment, therefore those with higher mediare loads will see marked cuts in physician income as a result.
Has nothing to do with Obamacare, no matter how much people want to say it does.
This year is no different than the last ten years. Every year Congress threatens physicians that payments will be cut. The Sustainable Growth Rate Act is responsible for this cycle. Until Congress repeals this act the threat to cut payments will continue. The SGR Act has absolutely nothing to do with Obamacare
Clip:
Because Congress once again failed to repeal the SGR, the Congressional Budget Office projected that the next cut, scheduled to occur on January 1, 2013, will be about 30 percent. Repealing the SGR remains the sound, fiscally prudent policy choice. The AMA will continue to urge Congress to repeal the SGR and stop this terrible cycle that breeds uncertainty for physicians and their practices, and continually threatens seniors access to critical care.

I see that you are far from being on Medicare. I received my notice of the coming cuts several months ago and really can't see how they can think that doctors will be able to continue to treat us with what they will be getting. I know from years of experience with Medicare that what is paid is so far below what insurance companies have to pay is sometimes embarrassing. My most used service over the past 10 years has been endoscopies to determine how much my Barrett's esophagus has advanced toward cancer. I had two a year for the first 4 years, then annually for a couple and every two years for a couple of cycles and am back ti annually now. I know what the doctor asked for each time and what he got which was about 60% of what he asked for. I also know a woman who had no insurance but had to pay the full amount that they tried to get for me. Of course, the hospital and doctor did allow her over a year of payments to get there. Insurance companies pay the whole charge also.
You work out the percentage of payment they got when the surgeon asked for $765 and got no more than $475. How in hell can he keep on giving his time and expertise to an old fart like me when he will be cut 30% and that is sure what my notice from Medicare said? Obamacare comes into force on January 1, 2013 and the Medicare cuts come at the same time. I can't wait for the full force of it for the IPAB to determine that I am too old for the service because younger people need it more. Oh yes, Obamacare has this written right in it and it will be a death sentence for me when it all starts happening.
