As of January 1st, there is a slated 30% cut in physician reimbursement via medicare. Currently medicare fees are much lower than regular private insurance (many times by 3 fold). Practices have a fixed overhead for staff, space and equipment, therefore those with higher mediare loads will see marked cuts in physician income as a result.

Our practice, which is a large multi-specialty clinic, is considering dropping medicare if the cuts go through. This is being discussed by most other practices in our community of 500,000. If the cuts go through, many medicare patients will still have medicare, but will have a very difficult time finding a provider to treat them. Our practice currently "breaks even" on medicare patients we see.

Obamacare, with its $750 billion cuts in medicare to support funding, is putting pressure on the reimbursement cuts such that they must become a reality on January 1st if Obamacare is going to become a reality.

Why in the world would any senior vote for Obama (and thus Obamacare) and slit their own throat?

Well the seniors were told their benefits were not getting cut. Instead their providers would get less.
This didn't seem to phase them since "their benefits" weren't being cut.

But if you pay the provider less while costs are going up, how long will that provider continue to take care of you operating at a loss ?
Seniors are already having a hard time finding a doctor when the move.

This is a "quiet" little secret of obamacare. However,we, as providers, will be forced to drop Medicare. I know that no one cares about the well being of physicians, but when seniors have limited access it will create a healthcare crisis. No one can compel physicians to see anyone. Therefore,I am wondering who will see all those patients if Obama is elected?

It appears as though Obama supporters have no answer for this bomb that is about to be dropped on all seniors as of January 1st.

When MANY practices drop Medicare (as they will lose money on every patient), a healthcare crisis will be created. Obama cannot compel any physician to accept medicare if they do not want to do so.

So tell me, Obama supporters, what will Obama do? Does any senior here know what is about to happen to them?

The reason I don't like social health care is that you start footing the bill for everything, the prices keep creeping up because, he someone will pay for it.

I don't know, or pretend to know much about this stuff, but is it possible that if they stop paying it that the prices will go down?

Then the retired who paid in all those years will be the next "underserved" population and the government can justify bringing in many more doctors from third world countries.

Of course these doctors get their nice visas but don't stay long in the underserved areas, they too want the paying patients so more third world physicians are brought in.

Proof that 0bama supporters are basically dumb as shoes.

And since most of the crap in 0care won't take effect 'til he's out of office, they won't blame him and the numbnuts who supported the thing.

0bama relies on dumb people.

And AARP was behind Obamacare. Many seniors just went along with AARP's recommendations.
AARP stands to make billions though from it's insurance now. There were financial reasons why AARP backed Obamacare.

Of course that was also another promise broken......no lobbyists.

AARP lobbied heavily for Obamacare and coordinated things with the WH.
