To answer your pithy little question though - yes, I've heard of the 60s - I lived through them. How are you specifically tying my memory of the 1960s to the question I asked you?
To claim that there is more class warfare now than any other time in American history is disingenous, to say the least.
The 60s were a time of great strife, on every level.
Class warfare, generational warfare, racial warfare, etc, et al.
How old were you in the 60s?

I am much better off than 4 yrs ago. Thank you obama! I work in a industry that does more business the worse the economy is. See when people dont have money the first thing they drop is extras like cable tv. Yes i am voting for romney even if it means my business suffers. The country cant afford 4 more yrs.

Things are fine for me and I have people say, "Four more years of Obama and you won't be". So why should I vote against him on what to me at this moment is a theory that 4 more years i'll be in ruins?

How exactly did Obama help you in the last 4 years, but Governor Perry did not? You live in TX, one of two states (that I know of) that has prospered in this horrible economy! TX & ND. The other 48 (or 55 depending on who you ask) have not done so well. Here in NV, we've seen the worst of it. Our unemployment rate is the highest in the nation and our housing bubble burst the loudest! Do you know where most of the people I know who left here went? TX and ND!

I am a survivor (Riverine Forces in 'Nam 66-7) of the '60's about to retire and I am damn well supporting and voting for President Obama.

That snake oil salesman Romney and his theocrat partner would be a disaster for me, my friends and the country. Romney would personally make billions for the Mormon church and the theocrat Ryan would return the woman of this country to chattel of their fathers, brothers or husbands without the basic freedom to decide their own health. This version of the Republican party is just plain EVIL.

Governor Perry helps only himself.

Sorry - Joe Biden may do that, but I don't.

Obama has stirred the pot when it comes to class warfare more than any other leader we've had. You mention that you know Republicans with a sense of entitlement. I am honest enough to say that I know both Democrats AND Republicans with a sense of entitlement, and I also know many liberals who are bitter about the success of others - that is, others when they are conservatives or Republicans. It doesn't seem to bother them when millionaire and billionaire Democrats "champion their cause."

Hypocrisy abounds.
You definitely have a pattern of doing "one ups" and "I can top that"...and rambling on while missing the main point...just saying.

Among other distasteful and stereotypical comments. Which is what you are accusing THEM of doing! Wow, such blatant hypocrisy. Please tell me how YOUR stereotypes and negative generalities are any different from what you're accusing others of doing?

I am not a Republican, but my husband is. My husband fits absolutely NONE of your stereotypes. NONE. Nor does his circle of Republican friends. Without exception, they are hardworking middle and upper middle class people who have built successful careers by the sweat of their brow. Many now own small businesses (as we do) and do their very best to better the lives of their employees - who are, by the way, of every color and hue.

We are neither living in a trailer park consumed by jealousy of "successful people of color" 0R "the elitist wealthy."

Damn. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
1) That was not my post that you happen to be quoting but I do agree with that statement.

2) We all have a right to post regarding our own personal experiences.

3) I experience jealousy from "certain types" ALL OF THE TIME because those people either have less or obviously think that they should have more/do more/live better/have better educations/live in a better neighborhood/have more money/better lives than a Black person....and it is glaringly obvious that they do not.

4) I could care about the political leanings of either you or your husband....everything is not ALL about KathrynAragon all of the time.

5) Learn how to stop making prejudiced assumptions based on someone agreeing with the statement of another poster.

6) And you can "lecture" me about what I believe when you start taking the numerous blatant bigots(not to mention YOUR OWN bigoted posts) on this forum to task because your silence on the bigoted posts equals agreement.

If you are feeling sorry for yourself in your position in Society the answer for you is to "get out and work your way up." That's what this country and our Constitution are all about!

I'd like our country maintain our standard of living as a whole, and not turn into a third world country where most of the people struggle and a few elites live behind walls. Your self help boot straps gibberish is completely off topic and irrelevant.

That's the end result of the current GOP/right wing economic philosphy...rich people behind walls. There is lots of talk about job creation and business..the real results are more jobs going overseas, people who already have wealth taking in more and more. If they actually had a real industrial development plan, that would be a different story. But they can't have that, because it's "socialism".

Instead, the economic theory is entirely weighted on cutting taxes on rich people and hoping they start businesses in the US and hire people, when there's no evidence that that will happen, and the tax cuts have no incentives built in to do any such thing.

So, you invest in a hedge fund, make a killing because companies outsource more jobs, and the BMW dealership sells another car.

Great economic model.

I have a friend that grins like a cheesier cat whenever a big wind storm is predicted. He installs glass windows.

I have another friend who loves rain and snow. He owns a body and fender shop.

In every situation there arethose that do well and those that don't.
