if NY wants a seawall, let the taxpayers of NY vote on whether they want to pay for it or not.
NBC Today show was discussing this morning that other countries were building projects like this and it should be part of the US "Federal Infrastructure". Think all those rebuilt and improved levees and flood control in New Orleans. If we built it for NO, why not seawalls for NYC ....... or LA or San Fran or Galveston or ???
The pressure to protect NYC with Federal Funds that we don't have has begun. Maybe the money we save with Obamacare will pay for those new seawalls.
Did you just watch 2001 Space Odyssey as you're coming across as Hal the malfunctioning computer..
No; I'm just a compassionate person who has read a lot. That combination helps me recognize that a person whom doesn't use reason to guide kind behavior can't use reason to reject cruel behavior such as bigotry, etc.
How do you prevent the scammers from taking advantage of the system if their appearance makes you feel bad?

Why would I help them? No one helps me with my drama; why should I lose both resources to help them and resources to resolve my own problems?

Hey as long as I don't have to pay for some southerners giant wall with mexico I'm fine with paying for our own seawall.
When Cuomo says "Washington" he means you and me. Should Obama agree to pay 100% of the cleanup ? Typical Democrat who says just print more money. All done by union workers.
Seeing as how, for decades, perhaps since the founding of the nation even, New York has sent more tax dollars to the federal government than it gets back in services, when New York needs federal aid now it should get it. Government-dependent state Oklahoma has been sucking up federal disaster money for years.
And you are looking at Cuomo in a very facile way. He has actually been a rather conservative Democrat and certainly no friend to New York's unions.

Proof please. Include military and related subsidies pumped into the state, please.

Rather callous way of looking at things..
As i.m far away from the problems i cant do much more than give verbal encouragement and an extra donation to the Red Cross but if asked there would be no question of helping neighbors or fellow countrymen in time of need,
Maybe if you reach out and ask some one assistance may be rendered with whatever comprises your drama/problems.

seawalls for everybody, even inland areas!!
heck, we can print more money and who cares about inflation or debt repayment? oh, wait-the little guys who are struggling care.
think of all that money they could confiscate and never actually build anything.
i see that they are giving new yorkers free gasoline in an election year. we certainly didn't get free gas after our multiple hurricanes, nor did we expect it. (i don't remember new orleans, texas, or mississippi getting it either)
i'd be surprised in the new improved seawalls in new orleans actually held up during another major hurricane, and i would certainly evacuate if i lived there.
