Why are people all of a sudden so obsessed with the breakup of the U.S.? Haven't we settled this already? Or was the Civil War a waste of time.
What did that "settle", exactly? Are you forgetting that the secessionists fired the first shots? Or do you think "I'll shoot you" is a legal argument?
we should return to a concept called federalism. We should return to being a constitutional republic where the powers of the federal government are few and specifically enumerated.
While I'd love to agree, we haven't done that since Washington was president. Adams, then Jefferson both overstepped the power of the federal government. Its basically just the history of the nation.
Good for you. Personally, I don't owe any particular loyalty to washington these days. A bustup is inevitable. It's just a question of when and how violent.
So, you're claiming that, somewhere, sometime, the US will cease to exist? Do you see that in the near future? Curious, because I really don't see it any time.
I really believe in this:

Thousands of people have died serving our country, and I find it treasonous to talk about breaking it up. The bigger issue is the epidemic of intolerance that has swept our country, so that people think theirs is the only acceptable way to think. That goes against the core values of the UNITED States. We will never all think alike. Suck it up and lay off the partisan swill. That trash is unpatriotic.

Nobody saw the USSR ceasing to exist six months before it did.
Nothing is as powerful as an idea whose time has come.
Ahh, with the wing nuts set to lose another election suddenly they're crying and want to take their marbles home! Suck it up and stop whining, field better candidates, and most of all stop being so insane. Then maybe you'll win an election.

Sorry you don't believe in this country and the people that make it up, as well as the people that came b4 us, to build it as much as I do.
Think you underestimate the patriotism and the values that hold MOST American's together. If you can't see the difference between what was the USSR and what is now and hopefully always will be the USA, I don't know what to tell you.
I lean hypersonic Libertarian and I think the USA should split up into 100s of different countries. Come on, you people gotta be more daring! The 21st century should be fun, not boring!

You don't have anything to tell me. But I'll tell you that what passes for patriotism in the United States is an affliction of the profoundly mentally dull.
