We still don't know the facts, at least many anyway. Deception from Obama and company. Muddying of the waters by outsiders including fox.
Was General Keane in the situation room? Is he on the security team that failed? Was he involed in the decision making? Then it is just another retired generals opinion.
Perhaps you have not been keeping up. This was a CIA operation. The consulate was just a cover for CIA operations. These were few state department employees but CIA operatives acting as State department employees. The CIA was in charge of everything including the security. This was a CIA mission to ferret out terrorists, which they are still doing. General Patreus was in charge of the mission. If anyone's head will roll, it will probably be his as head of the CIA.

First off, 0bama still controls the CIA so this does not magically let the clueless, incurious boob of a president, off the hook. Secondly the CIA does not control USASOC's rapid response special forces units, like Delta Force. There are military units tasked with being responsible for responding to the safety and security of our various embassy stations around the world. General Keane was only talking about one unit, which apparently recently moved, and he seems to think they were somehow not able to function as a unit at the time of the attack on 9/11. The CIA does have their own special terror response teams, but so does the US military, they are not all one in the same.
You are essentially saying, that both the CIA, and all of our military units were screwed up, were caught sleeping, and completely dysfunctional and impotent just when we needed them.

first of all, this was only one small part of this cover up, and its just another unnamed source.
Secondly, when one reporter has their unnamed sources saying something you don't like, you call them liars. Then another reporter has their unnamed sources that say what you like, and suddenly it's game over, and every other reporter is wrong.

There's a dual responsibility. Under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the host country is responsible for security of embassies. However, experience has taught the Americans that they can't rely on the host country to do that. They've experienced big losses in places like Kuwait, and Beirut a couple of times, even in Islamabad, Pakistan, when it was burnt to the ground. So they've learned they need to establish their own security bureaucracy to take care of that, and the Diplomatic Security Service (or law enforcement arm of the State Department) came into being in the mid-1980s.

I was watching FOX at the gym this evening and the the Cavuto's guest said, "Bengahazi is the greatest political and military tragedy since Vietnam."
Let that sink in. The narrative being pushed about this terrible event of terrorism is that it's a greater tragedy than our Marines being killed in Lebanon, the Disco bombing in Berlin, Lockerbie, Dar es Salaam, the numerous other embassy attacks and 9-11.
This has gone way beyond politics. This is now distasteful, shameless lying.

It says something about a president who refuses to come clean and tell us what happened, so we have to sift thru the truth with unnamed source leakers, testimony from congressional hearings, and reporters who find diaries laying around in the consulate, days after the attack, and another reporter finding documents laying on the consulate floor one and a half months later.
