me too,,and that is plenty tall...they dont need to go any higher than that

as to the op:

220 stories in 90 days....would be very hard to do........the empire state building was done in about a year

220 stories would have to have a HUGE base for stabilization.....

I wish them luck, but I think 90 days is too fast..220 stories is too tall

With such massive structures I always wonder why the ground does not yield under that enormous weight distributed over a relatively small area

Is that the Hancock tower on the photo, or image rather?

I think it is like with big planes. There are very few accidents compared to the number of flights/skyscrapers. Most victims of fire probably die in single-family homes

I'm reading a lot of people who are wishing them ill in this endeavor. If you think the US should have the tallest building in the world, tell your local politicians to support one. I'd like to see us endeavor to build a space elevator myself. Sky's the limit? Hardly.
I have never heard of manufacturing of material being counted in with construction time.

Neither have I, so the prefab shouldn't count towards the total time to build.

Its possible, that 30 day building was built modularly. wiring and lighting already run and just clip it together.

I have seen a video of it, those modules are extremely precise, when they joined them, every bolt fit right into the corresponding hole

I wonder though if such buildings would not be more robust if they were slightly irregular and asymmetrical

I know I am. Much like the Russians sending up sputnik, nothing inspires Americans like a little competition. In the words of Patton, Americans are winners, we don't like losing.
