Just for the record. The school has bathrooms. No one has to use a bucket.

No wonder I hated elementary school. The primary purpose of public school is not to learn but to transmit the dominant culture. Childern have to be conditioned to be good workers, just like their parents. When a teacher tried to stop me from going to the bathroom I just walked out and when she tried to grab me I ran straight for the restroom and put a rock under the door. After relieving myself it was a trip to the office. My parents were furious and straightened the teacher out. Afterwards, I never had another issue..

There is nothing wrong with a school having a bucket for emergencies.

True, but they aren't in the classroom, and they were unavailable to the kid due to the teacher's stupid rule.

I certainly think this is not right on the part of teacher. Thank goodness I don't know anyone who has had such a teacher.

Accidents really aren't all that uncommon in schools. Just visit the Teacher's Forum and you'll be very surprised.

What happen to the teacher in question? Was her contract renewed? A colleague of mine is in a similar situtation.
