BTW....an overtly progressive judge ruling on something does not override the constitution.
Why bother. You clearly will not accept any court ruling that does not match up with your own personal beliefs as being valid. Perhaps you can cite the source of your authority to be the final arbiter of constitutionality since I always thought that that was exactly the task given to judges - even the evil secular, progressive kind.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
It's completely constitutional for a teacher to pray in the classroom.
As long as he or she keeps it to themselves. Leading a class in a prayer again becomes government endorsement, which they are prohibited.
As a supplement to the above question, I would also ask why it's so important that prayer be a part of the public schools?
I'll keep posting this hoping that you people read it.
Freedom of speech is not only for speech that you accept.

Indeed. Although, if it had not been something that was implemented several centuries ago, declaring a religious holiday as a federal holiday would probably be unconstitutional today. However, it has also very much become a secular holiday, celebrated by millions of people who neither follow nor care about the christian religion, so it is allowed to stand.

Generations of tradition have people decorating for Christmas all across the world.
Indeed. So decorate. Just use your own property, or other property where you have obtained permission to do so. And answer my question, why is that not good enough? Why does it HAVE to be public, government property?
Quote:
There is no such tradition of decorating for other traditions in America.
Apparently you're unfamiliar with other holidays that frequently involve people decorating. The 4th of July, Halloween, and Thanksgiving all come to mind.

Why are you so insulted?
Because the government who represents and works for me has no business endorsing any particular religion, including my own. If and when the day comes that the creator decides to reveal himself (or herself, or itself, as the case may be) in a manner that is unambiguous and leaves zero room for doubt, perhaps then we can consider it. Until then, no bueno.

You do not have free access to government owned property. Should you not believe me, I suggest that you take a trip to Washington, DC, and try to get into the Pentagon or White House.
Your freedom of speech has not been suppressed, as I mentioned earlier, on property that you own or control, decorate away. Go overboard, put up a manger AND a tree. Heck, put up 27 of them. As you noted, you have freedom of speech, go exercise it.
The government does NOT have freedom of speech, and they are NOT allowed to endorse religion.
They have a huge job on their hands when so many in our country want this. Maybe even atheists can get into the spirit and be happy, if only for a few moments.
The Voice of the Martyrs is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian organization dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide. VOM was founded in 1967 by Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who was imprisoned 14 years in Communist Romania for his faith in Christ. His wife, Sabina, was imprisoned for three years. In the 1960s, Richard, Sabina, and their son, Mihai, were ransomed out of Romania and came to the United States. Through their travels, the Wurmbrands spread the message of the atrocities that Christians face in restricted nations, while establishing a network of offices dedicated to assisting the persecuted church. The Voice of the Martyrs continues in this mission around the world today through the following main purposes:
Our ministry is based on Hebrews 13:3: Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
HelpWe help Christians who are or have been, persecuted for their involvement in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We provide medical assistance, food, clothing, and other forms of aid.LoveWe support Christians who are willing to invite their fellow men, even their persecutors, to Jesus Christ through faithful deeds of love in a hostile environment. We supply Bibles, literature, radios, and other evangelistic tools.EncourageWe encourage persecuted Christians by giving their testimony a voice, informing Christians in the USA to know how to help. We believe that the lives and the testimony of persecuted Christians is a vital part of the fellowship of all believers and will challenge and strengthen the faith of Christians everywhere.
Nice deflection.
