Ok, let's work with that.. There may be something there. To provide a synopsis, the Great Society reforms were started by Democrats under Lyndon B. Johnson, aimed at eliminating poverty and reducing racial injustice. It is a term that oftentimes encompasses the "war on poverty", civil rights reforms, and medicare/medicaid/social net initiatives.

So the thing is... aren't a lot of European nations basically "Great Society" on steroids? Per this forum, they're the ultimate liberal cesspools. So if this is the driving differentiator, then why don't they see these kinds of effects on their crime rates in Europe? All of those nations are order of magnitude lower than the USA.

Hypocrites.
Ok. What about the culture is uniquely different here than in those other countries?

Israel has a very militarized culture. They engage in mini wars every year or so, and that stuff clearly hits home for their population given the proximity to their enemies. Why aren't they similar to us in the chart?

Look on the bright side: compared to third world countries, the US isn't so bad when it comes to homicides.

The graph is simply liberal bias propaganda because it is comparing America to developed Western nations.

haha... indeed, you are right.

Yes, compared to Mexico, Brazil with uncontrolled drug wars or Syria and Somalia anarchy and civil war... we're doing just great!

Really think about your comparisons and get back to me. What exactly is different about Europe.

BTW how's those reforms working out in Europe lately?

It's so incredibly obvious, even though the gun lobby doesn't want to admit it.

150 years ago, there were zero road deaths.

This is because, there were no cars.

Now we have a horrific road toll, due to most people being able to afford/access cars.

This is despite the fact that road users are required to be tested and licensed.

The more cars, the more road deaths, despite licensing and education. Why do people think it's different for guns deahts, when they are sold to just anybody with the money and no licensing or educational requirements at all?

Now, think about how many guns are in your society. Then think about how many of those gun owners are properly tested and licensed..."properly" meaning, being assessed as requiring a gun, showing knowledge on how to safely use that gun, adequate secure storage, the appreciation that you are actually wishing to own a killing stick and should have a good reason for why, instead of the knee jerk "right" to own one.

Your gun laws are what's at fault, not the guns themselves. Easy access, a violent mentality, and acceptance of weaponry in suburbia...these factors are what cause your sky high gun homicide rate.

The inability of many Americans to understand statistics (our country is bigger of course we're going to have more...huh???) the refusal to accept that the 2nd Amendment is now hopelessly outdated and inappropriate for our modern violence soaked world, the irrational belief that guns dont kill people (wtf????) the fallacious argument that cars kill more people than guns, and just the pure selfish attitude that "its my right so screw everyone else", is what is leading you down the road to Hell.

One of our PMs, John Howard, called gun ownership "The American Disease". Most of you are infected, and don't even know.

I don't know, why are we also an outlier on success, technological advancements and contributions to humanity?

A prime example of the symptoms of the "American Disease".

In no other area would Americans be quite happy to be marginally better than third world, but far worse than any other developed nation.
