to an extent you are right, but it mostly pertains to small and weak minded individuals. for those of us who pay attention to our surroundings on the other hand, we like our guns, and like shooting our guns, but we dont always carry our guns, as we can always see weapons in other things around us if they are needed.

I think it has more to do with being curious about mechanical devices and the Hollywood love affair with violent movies.
