The only logical reason why anyone would "love" a piece of metal that is designed to kill or maim is the sense of power and self esteem it gives the owner.

This discussion isn't about whether the 2nd amendment gives you the right to bear arms. It's about people who are passionate about their guns. Gun nuts.

It's one thing to own a gun, it's another to be in love with it.

Please define your meaning of love in this context. Is it different that the love some people have for their car, or their boat or dining room set? If not, are these people nuts too? Are you suggesting being passionate about things is wrong in some way? Or only wrong to be passionate about something you cannot share the passion for?

So where is the dividing line between owning a firearm or firearms and being a "gun nut"? Who makes that determination? You?

Well, I love my hunting firearms and WW2 era weapons that have been passed down to me from my father who was in WW2 and Korea. I have a particular Belgium Browning A-5 12 gauge shotgun that I have used for decades Duck hunting that I wouldn't get rid of for the world. I have my favorite deer rifle, a 270 that I have used for years that enables me to kill deer every year in order to fill my deep freeze for the winter with venison. Yes.............I love my guns, all of them. They are vital to my needs. Is that the type of love you were looking for Savoir Faire?

If one is very passionate about something, it's common to be labeled a nut. So society decides. If you are religious and passionate about healthy lifestyles, you are labeled a health nut.
