So liberals, what's with this obsession about equality?

Well, i'll throw a little bacon your way since you appear to be hungry. Do you think we(America) have more resources at our disposal than those other countries you named? Think about that, first. Then, i'll educate you a bit more. Baby steps, my friend. Baby steps.
Resources are nothing without the human capital to capitalize on it. America may have plenty of natural resources but if individuals were not incentivized by being allowed to keep the fruits of their labor those resources would be squandered. See Africa for a vivid example.
Conversely there are countries with few natural resources but are able to maintain high living standards for their citizens, see Japan for an example.
The notion that because someone is born in a resource heavy country automatically means they are entitled to the good life without putting much effort is laughable.

Actually no, I was referencing your statement about starting lines. If everyone has the same economic opportunity, everyone must begin at the same economic starting line.
Admitting that there is a starting line.....doesn't all of sudden take one to the land of "everyone has to start out poor". What don't you understand about....that being aware of a situation, doesn't suddenly mean that the person advocating the awareness, is advocating for something as unrealistic as what you believe i'm positing?

Read the sentence we maybe created equal but we do not have equal abilities. Try as I might I will never be able to run a 4.3/40 and throw a football on a string for 60 yards in one seemless motion. The market rewards individuals who can do that richly. Since I do not have that ability should the NFL compensate me for at least trying?

Why is it that whenever capitalism is the topic, liberals act as if we are talking about "unbridled" capitalism, or some type of anarchist system? The capitalist system consists of rules, laws and regulations, which form the framework of a fair and equitable system, from which our free market system resides. It's called free, because it's free to operate within that regulated framework of laws.
The invisible hand is at work within that system. Any product or company that does not serve the needs of the people with quality products and services, will perish, unless the providers or manufacturers make the proper changes to compete. On the same note, any employer who treats his employees like crap, pays them crap, and gives them crap, will go out of business, and be left with crap.

Property taxes go towards communities to fund education and protection FOR ALL.
Education is available to all children in the US, even illegals.
Anyone can go to college these days; money is freely available from Uncle Sam.
There's plenty of "opportunity" in America but one has to pursue it.
Education is the key. It's the basis for the rest of your life once you hit adulthood.
