Why do they need 1.2 BILLION hollow point pistol rounds? They ordered that last year. Why are they paranoid of returning military vets? Janet Napolitano considered them potential terrorists. Why does Obama want to spy on americans like Bush 43 did only in an even greater capacity? They took the right to free elections from us, now they want to ban our right to bear arms. Now they want to flood us with illegals some of whom are crminals. We're in the crosshairs, people, all of us.
Oh well, at least they haven't shut down the internet yet and we can still have free sp
Coast Guard gets their weapons from DoD.
They are considered a military branch even in peacetime with special privileges for operating on US shores.
DHS took them over from the Dept of Transportation (peacetime mission), not the Dept of the Navy.
They are under DHS . Link please showing the source of their weapons.
This concerns me. This got my tinfoil hat tightened up pretty good. There is absolutely NO reason at all to conceal an assault rifle unless you are trying to surprise people with it. The ONLY people this can be done to are Americans.
I asked you yesterday for any info on the new class of gun type, and have lost the thread ....
Also if i recall the feds bought a large amount of ammo and shipped it to strange places like islands off maine, but that was a while ago... There were going to arm weather stations with it too. I can't recall, but it seems with in reason normal at the time but sort of larger...
It does take a lot of ammo for training, so i am not really saying a whole lot unless these are connected.
I don't KNOW anything on this topic and am just curious.
7000 is a lot, considering that this is a very specialized gun, basically a concealed-carry rifle (20" or less in collapsed/folded form).
Less than 100 years ago when the FBI was created, Congress was very leery about armed federal police. At first the FBI was forbidden from carrying guns; they were supposed to get help from local police if guns were required. Now we are at the point where 7000 concealable rifles is considered "not that many."

The USCG is a unique branch of the military.
Under peacetime they reported to the Dept of Transportation.
Under wartime the Dept of the Navy.
I was USCG for 8 years and no one really understands how they operate.
DHS took them over from the Dept of Transportation which is their peacetime mission.
The Dept of Transportation did not provide their weapons nor their vessels, the DoD (Navy) did.
They use standard military issue non-lethal weapons while conducting peacetime missions.
United States Coast Guard - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Coast Guard is a maritime, military, multi-mission service unique among the U.S. military branches for having a maritime law enforcement mission (with jurisdiction in both domestic and international waters) and a federal regulatory agency mission as part of its mission set. It operates under the Department of Homeland Security during peacetime, and can be transferred to the Department of the Navy by the President at any time, or by Congress during time of war.
The DHS doesn't order cutters for the USCG do they ? DoT didn't do that; USCG got their cutters through the Navy.
With the USCG being a military branch, it's just logical that they have the same choice of weapons as other military branches because in times of war the USCG has augmented the military overseas (like in Vietnam). To arm them with a "personal defense weapon" like an AR is just plain stupid if you think about it. USCG keeps their munitions locked up and you get issued arms if you are on patrol or standing guard.
Logic should tell you that no military branch should have these personnel AK weapons.
Maybe Border Patrol or ICE.
also look up OPNAV INSTRUCTION 4000.798 which was put in place to keep the USCG up to par with the Navy.
So unless Janet is ordering guns for the Navy the Coast Guard won't get them.

7K is a lot but who are they arming ?
Border Patrol, ICE, USCG all have their own procurement/training processes and directives.
DHS is really the administrative arm they fall under for orders.
Maybe those TSA gropers are going to get them at the airports ? LOL.."Put down that cup of coffee or I'll blow your head off"
They should have ordered a crate of Barrett .50's and some good optics and declared open season on the trespassers at the border. The drug dealers would think twice.
I'm asking this question because it seems either nobody wants to answer it or they can't. Think about this for a minute. DHS put out a new contract for bid to build a new, lightweight, easily concealable assault rifle. Why? The ONLY reason for concealing an assault rifle is for the element of surprise. Who do they plan on surprising? You're not going into a foreign country with an assault rifle under your jacket to wage war, you aren't protecting anything with a concealed weapon, you would want that out in the open as a show of force. The only reason? To use the element of surprise on American citizens.
I can see how a paranoid would think this way.
I can also see why DHS would have the need for a small lightweight rifle. DHS agents are required to move around and confront many unknowns.
Shrinking the size and the weight of the kit is why the assault rifle was designed in the first place, as soldiers have exactly the same needs.
Any small weapon is more easily concealed. Concealment may not be the primary purpose that the DHS needs in it's weaponry. The two do not go hand in hand automatically.
