Given the number of gun owners in this country, these poll results would indicate that even gun owners are broadly in support of the ideas that have come from the President's and Vice President's meetings regarding possible gun control measures.
Most Americans favor dozens of policies that aim to reduce gun violence, according to a new national poll.
Researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health surveyed more than 2,700 Americans about 31 gun policies in January, several weeks after the Dec. 14 mass shooting of 26 people at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. The majority of respondents supported all but four of the policies, the survey showed, and gun owners and non-gun owners differed little in their support.
For instance, 89 percent of respondents supported requiring universal background checks for all gun sales; 69 percent supported banning the sale of military-style semi-automatic assault weapons, and 68 percent wanted to ban the sale of large-capacity ammunition magazines.
The majority of those surveyed also supported prohibiting high-risk individuals from owning guns, including those convicted of a serious crime as a juvenile (83 percent in favor) and those convicted of violating a domestic-violence restraining order (81 percent in favor).
Had to go digging to find that the surveys were published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Anyone got a subscription?
Considering that it's our Constitutional rights at stake, I'd like to read the actual survey questions and answers before accepting that information at face value. There are a lot of red flags that go up when any "health" related organization or agency publishes something related to firearms.
I thought we weren't supposed to restrict individual liberties for minority groups (apparently gun owners according to the OP's premise) because of the popular majority?

New: POLL, of liberal gun haters(<<omitted), INDICATES THAT EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY MUST BACK THE PRESIDENTS ATTACK ON 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS!
It's a sad world when a person has to dig something up from the 100th page of a search, and then represent it as being an "indication that even gun owners broadly support the idea of tyranny"

No, every state is not Texas; but, consider there are over 65M gun owners (not including their children) We are fully 1/3 of the country and most of us will bury our guns before we surrender them.
Obama is pushing hard to take away individual rights to own a gun.
