I see the Woodward thread was deleted after it was shown to be much to do over nothing. We've seen a pattern among American conservatives to tell lie after lie, and then when one is exposed, start a new one. Why are conservatives so intent on lying to make a point these days? Is it due to the Fox News effect, or something more? Will the next Republican presidential ticket follow a similar path of Romney/Ryan, and tell lie after lie in order to try and get elected?

See how easy that is.
I agree liberals do lie sometimes, but with conservatives, it's become very epidemic. Just look at the forums here.

conservatives have always lied this is not a new thing. It is just that in the past, conservative politicians would at least have the guard rail of reality forced on them by the press on a national level at least to address problems.
Now, conservatives are out of touch with reality. They have their own conservative media with a conservative reality.
So their well known need to lie doesn't have the guard rail of reality any longer.
So every nutty, scared, hate filled conspiracy theory becomes mainstream.
Also, the election of President Obama shook their whole worldview. For conservatives, a man like President Obama hits all of their fear buttons.
They have an intense hatred of President Obama. They desperately want the nation to hate him as they hate him, and the fact that we don't is telling them that they are no longer the majority. They see the hand writing on the wall.
To them the world has gone mad that this man has been elected twice, and he won a noble peace prize.
For conservatives, his election signaled the decline of America, the end of America. It signaled an America that they don't like, and an American people they don't like.

I really don't think it is lying per se.
Today ultra right or left wing have shows, like Fox news. . .who give them pseduo facts that confirm their world view. The items (such as the non-threat) are blown up and exaggerated. The people who watch the show don't want to fact check, because they thing every other media is "biased". There is a reason why every research (such as PEW) shows Fox News as the most uninformed.
I'm not sure I would say they lie all the time. They do, but I see them stretching the truth & fear mongering. More so than that though, they've become mean. I see it from people on this forum as well. Just nasty responses, views that one could only call jerkish (yes, I made that word up). I don't know why they're so mean but all I can say is, I'm glad I'm not a conservative.
