Another ignorant response. For the last 10 years I have been paying all my medical expenses out-of-pocket. Once Obamacare comes into full effect, people like me will be able to finally purchase healthcare insurance. And that is in some way objectionable to you? I'm supposed to care more about the ventures of a small business, which in my opinion will not be hurt by Obamacare, than my own life? And that's selfish to you? I'm supposed to not get healthcare insurance, and maybe die from lack of medical care, so that some small business can make more profit? Most small business owners support Obamacare, so even there your argument is a fail.
Wait - you have a pre-existing condition and can't afford insurance but all your costs are paid out of pocket. You've previously indicated you're not wealthy. Something doesn't add up.
The people on here would apparently be thrilled as long as things continued as before, with many people being refused health insurance by health insurance companies, and families being bankrupted if their child gets leukemia (which by the way I know a family that happened to, so again, I don't want anyone saying that stuff doesn't happen.)
Okay, well, that's what this thread is about, so if you only want to add sarcasm, maybe your time is better spent elsewhere. Do you have anything to say about the OP?
Sorry Andrea, but you do not get to tell other posters what to post.
Why don't you care about people who don't have healthcare coverage? What was YOUR plan to deal with the 'healthcare' crisis that I've been hearing about for years and years? Remember, too, Medicare is going bankrupt any day now so don't count on that either. What was the plan if not Obamacare?
I hear much hand wringing and gnashing of teeth over Obamacare but I've yet to hear of a better solution - other than a single payer system but that seems to scare you even more.

My costs have not been exorbitant. I'm lucky to have been well for 10 years, it's just I'm high-risk. I never said I couldn't afford insurance; no insurance company will sell it to me at any price.
Funny I seem to recall all kinds of Congressional hearings and people testifying who had been denied healthcare insurance or been dropped when their child became ill.
Look, while I can sympathize with your issue, do you truly not see that those were pawns. You are a pawn. Explain to me how the main goal being help those who cant afford it, results in the tens of thousands of pages mess, and thousands or rules/regs?
You put to much faith in those who say they care for you. Those in DC that say they want to help you. When they start using you as a prop, you better watch their other hand. The only thing that made it about helping the uninsured, was the rhetoric and props they used to get it to pass. Not to mention back room deals and bribes.
No, I'm serious. Obamacare will allow people with pre-existing conditions to obtain healthcare insurance, when before, the insurance companies would not sell it to them at any price. That alone will make a huge difference in the lives of thousands of people. Why would you be against that?
Health insurance like all insurance operates on the premise you buy insurance before you need it. Since you are mandated to have insurance the pre-existing condition provision becomes irrelevant after the initial wave of people. After that if the law works as intended and everyone buys insurance they can't deny you becsue of of pre-existing condition becsue you'll already have insurance.

They seem to think since it's law you have to buy insurance these people will somehow magically be able to afford it.

But what about now? You are saying that no one will have pre-existing conditions before Obamacare goes into effect? The reasoning never fails to amaze me.

Less people are going to have healthcare under Obamacare.
"CBO and JCT now estimate that fewer people will be covered by the Medicaid program, more people will obtain health insurance through the newly established exchanges, and more people will be uninsured. The magnitude of those changes varies from year to year."

The premiums would be likely be larger than your actual costs...
