It looks like the gun grabbers have let a perfectly good tragedy go to waste. How sad for them.....

People are pissed they can't get ammo and how much more expensive it is, not to mention the price of firearms and they'll remember the bozos who caused all the trouble.

2014 is going to be a bad year for a lot of mindless Democrats, people aren't going to forget you attempting to eliminate their rights.

That's exactly how Democrats are treating Newtown and now you guys are upset that you weren't able to use it to your advantage. Before those children were buried the liberal morons were pushing for the elimination of our constitutional rights and it's backfired on you.

I honestly do not understand why conservatives think that enacting something that had already been in place just 9 years earlier is in any way taking away your rights. The Supreme Court has already ruled that it doesnt.

Democrats were not using this to their advantage, they saw a dangerous situation and sought a solution that would protect the citizens of this nation.

are you actually arguing that democrats want to take your guns away for the hell of it ? How would that help democrats ?

The bills that are being proposed by Democrats these days are much more restrictive than was was enacted 9 years ago. The previous "assault weapon" ban did nothing to prevent the attacks that took place prior to Newton.

Democrats are trying to use this tragedy to push their anti-gun agenda, achieving that goal would in turn help them... unless of course you don't think that Democrats have an anti-gun agenda then I can't really help you because you're beyond help. Democrats saw a dangerous situation and sought a solution which wouldn't fix anything and would only eliminate the rights of legal gun owners in this country. Democrats don't care about protecting citizens of this nation, they care about votes and power.

Only in a democrats mind is doing something that doesn't work but makes them feel good is worth while.

The "assault weapons" ban could not possibly have been a "solution" to what happened at Sandy Hook (nor could a 'universal background check' for that matter). In the first place, the shooter could have done what he did with a "non-assault" weapon such as a lever or pump action. In the second place, CT did have in place a statewide "assault weapons" ban and so the rifle used by the shooter, as a legally purchased rifle, was presumably in compliance with the ban and therefore not an "assault weapon" under the law (the only definition of "assault weapon" we have.

If the ban was in place at the state level, what difference would it have made to also have it in place at the federal level? Zip, zero, nada.

No it was exactly as OP stated. Dems like Feinstein were not looking for a "solution." They were looking for a way to exploit a tragedy to get a law enacted that they had wanted all along.
