So without affirmative action Ben Carson would not have success?
I don't know for sure one way or the other. However, given his age, I think it is highly unlikely that he wasn't the beneficiary of some aspects of affirmative action.
Personally, I have no problem with that possibility and do not consider it a negative as do those who choose to paint the president with the same brush. Just because one is presented with an opportunity is no guarantee that s/he will be successful - the drive, perseverance, dedication have to be there to take advantage of what is given.
I do, however, expect that hypocrisy from those who praise Dr. Carson to the heavens for his accomplishments while at the same time belittling the president by trying to claim that he wouldn't have gotten into Columbia or Harvard otherwise. Whether either man did or didn't have that advantage, the rules must be applied equally.
This guy is everything black's should hold dear. Self made, educated, reasonable and truly American the opposite of the plethora of idiots most are told to adore.
I.e. Al sharpton, Jessie Jackson, Jessie Jackson jr, BO, Eric Holder, etc. (all horrible role-models)
It does not seem as if his mamma raised him to be the victim.

Some abuse government assistance and some use it for what it was intended.
Carson is in the 1%
I say "...solutions to problems" and you read that as "these problems do not exist?"
Wouldn't it have made more sense to simply say that you don't know what Dr. Carson's suggested solutions are rather than pretending I said something I didn't?
I absolutely would like to know if Dr. Carson has spoken about these issues and/or has offered any solutions for these long-entrenched issues. I think that he would have a huge amount of credibility when speaking on these issues, given his history, etc. Of course, that is assuming that he isn't one of those "pull the ladder up after him" types who fails to recognize the benefits of affirmative action and timing as it relates to his own success.
But that's okay. I will chalk you up as yet another poster who is all bluster and no substance.
My, but that list is getting long.
I post about Carson speaking to the problems and you ask if he has a solution to them. Did you ask him about his solution? Or are you sarcastically mocking Carson for pointing out that there are problems? Preferring instead to put him on the defensive because he dared to speak about the issues. That's okay. I'll chalk you up as yet another lefty who loves burying their head in the sand instead of admitting that there are actually real problems to address.
The man seems to be a threat to some. He's a doctor. He hasn't said he was running for anything. Yet the left, in their hysteria that the right may actually have a viable minority candidate, needs to destroy him before he is even out of the starting blocks. The lefties are so obvious as to their motives.

Medicine is one of those fields where affirmative action isn't going to help. You either know how to do brain surgery or not.
Yes indeed. I think what the extremist authoritarian Repubs (teabaggers, et al) are doing right now, is excellent, and I do hope they keep it up.
They're setting him up. He obviously doesn't realize that there is lotsa value in being taciturn and picking your spots. This overexposure is basically ensuring that he's gonna say something incredibly stupid eventually.
Buy oh well. I don't get why they're so in love with the guy. He's a conservative doctor. There must be a million conservative doctors with his same opinions.
So why is he special?
