If you had experience in retail, you would probably know that the primary variable in earning a higher wage in any corporate stores is not "working harder."
I will cut you some slack for having had to work at Best Buy. God almighty.
Politics in retail? You need to try harder like the women making minimum wage. The world is not that complicated, do a good job, show up on time, don't steel things and you can get more than minimum wage at any job after 6 months.
How many of you are willing to pay $8 for a happy meal for your kids? These businesses would have to close down if they paid these idiots $15 an hour..

Don't think so. How readily do you think Walmart workers are promoted and given raises?
mcdonalds, taco bell and the likes are very rich, it wouldnt hurt if they paid decent wages.. for god sakes how can you pay someone 7.25 in nyc?! i would be ashamed to do that... oh well disgusting people all around us.
This is where full time employees are clueless. Go open a franchise and then ask how much Taco Bell(the corp) gives them.
They have to pay to use the Taco Bell name and each place is independently owned, operated and started.....
Look, its an unrealistic demand, but so what? People have the right to be unrealistic.
If you're gonna make a demand and you've got nothing to lose, you may as well go hard on your first shot.
Besides...I don't care what McD's pays their workers. Maybe they split the difference and say 10 or 11...Wendy's pays 10 an hour where I live after a year.

No, they wouldn't. They just might be a tiny bit less RICH.
this ^^^ sounds amazingly naive. You've never worked anywhere that workplace politics played a huge role in who gets promotions, raises, etc., etc. What if the woman has missing teeth and can't afford to get them fixed? Do you think she'll be top on the list for getting a new job? You all seem to live in some sort of bubble where "merit" is the only thing considered in hiring. Also, how does this woman get a higher education or new skills training if she doesn't have the money to pay for it? Did you go to college for free? Did you have to help support an extended family while you were in college?
I paid my own way through college, never finished though. Nothing was handed to me in my life, though I have been luckier than some. I have had a job since I was 12 years old (paperboy), many times during my life I have had 2 job, that is what I did through college. I have never been unemployed. I work hard and have carved out my little piece of the pie. This make me naieve?

There's basically "office politics" in every job.
Then they can get different job somewhere else that pays more. Walmart or McDonald doesn't own the people. If "office politics" is your excuse for someone making minimum wage then they should learn to make friends.

this is a joke right? hahah do you realize how much money mcdonalds makes? they would hardly notice any difference if they had to pay more in just one american city..
I agree that $15 is too much but they deserve $10
