If she is gay and the school does not permit gays to be teachers and that is part of the understanding and contract, then why would she teach there. She was living a lie.
She taught there, probably out of spite, as a way of mocking the Catholic School and its stance against homosexuality. But God doesn't play around, so He made sure that her little game didn't succed.

It seems very clear to me. Nowhere in the US can you be fired (or not hired) because of your race, sex, national origin, or religion, and in many parts of the US - including where this school is located - your sexual orientation.
Note that, with the exception of religion, these are innate, biological characteristics (religion being a lifestyle choice).
Nazism is neither a race, sex, national origin, religion, or sexual orientation.
I'm so happy that you posted this topic. Now more people can see that it's not about equality. It's about you trampling on the rights of others and demanding that everyone (regardless of their religious beliefs) embrace and respect homosexuality.
If gay marriage becomes legal, gays will be crying to the courts that the Church discriminated against them, by refusing to perform their marriage ceremony.

This is only the beginning...
Churches refuse to marry people of different faiths, races, and divorcees all the time and people aren't crying to the courts. The church and state are S E P E R A T E.
People really need to think hard about these issues. There is a huge difference between not being able to get married in a church by a priest saying vows that reflect whatever belief (and nobody has EVER suggested this is a civil/human rights issue) and taking away someone livelihood because some secret sin about them was discovered which has no bearing on the job, the person, or the way people thought of them prior to the gossip. We are not talking about a threat here, not a criminal, a rapist, a murderer....just a "sin" of which the church identifies many, and which every member of the church commits on a daily basis (hence the whole reason for the church correct? Since man can not and never will be sinless). If you stop and think and use your brain and apply it to everyone BEYOND the whole "oh she's gay and Catholics have a right to fire her" thing and think how else that could be applied you ought to be very concerned. If you aren't then I will go on record right now as saying your are an imbecile.
If the catholic church is going to take a hard line on homosexuality, then it should defrock all gay priests who represent that organisation. And as it has become clear, there are many of them.
A few months ago the leading catholic in the UK cardinal Keith O'Brien, who was, by the way, rabidly anti homsexual, had to resign because he had used his position, and his power to coerce young priests into having homosexual relations with him.
Four priests had complained directly to the Vatican but no action had been taken against the cardinal, so they went to the press. This is the problem the catholic church faces, namely it's secrecy, and it's staggering hypocrisy.
I agree somewhat.. if they repent ok.. but he it is a continued problem they are not there for God, but for their flesh.

You do realize that any church can refuse to have a marriage ceremony for ANYONE. Right?
Do you think that will be ok when it comes to supplying free condoms and abortions in Obamacare? Why do you think these religious institutions and religious employers are taking Obamacare to court?
We won't have religious freedom after Obama takes care of that.

The central question is, does a Private Catholic School have the right to set their own policies and standards for their employees? The answer is, absolutely.
You fail to understand that the Catholic School does not have to agree with her lifestyle, nor do they have to maintain her employment if her behavior is not in accordance with their specific policies and guidelines.
Some churches refuse to marry interfaith couples. Some refuse to marry divorced people.
The first amendment. You might want to read it.
They should have the right to decide not to marry a couple. I'm sure those couples were able to find other Churches that were willing to marry them. I don't understand your point.
