Everytime I go for a promotion in my company, I'm told "You have great skills amd knowledge for the position, but we want someone with a degree". Fine.
It is up to the buyer to set the minimum requirements. Be happy they were honest with you, and now you can take the action needed to get the position you want.
Everytime I go for a promotion in my company, I'm told "You have great skills amd knowledge for the position, but we want someone with a degree". Fine. I'm playing the stupid game and am now in college. So far, I've learned how to write papers to the specs that each professor wants. It's a joke, but it's how the system works.
In a better system your boss would say, "We need someone with very good writing skills for that position. Here's a free online tutorial that will provide all the information you need and help you practice. When you're ready, you can take the exam and get your class A business writing certification. Then you'll definately be considered. Good luck."

Exactly. My direct supervisor acknowledged I have the skills. It's a game. I just have to play by their rules or leave. So, I changed majors and will leave the game.
