I don't think that "submissive" is quite the right word in discussing what a man seeks in a woman's personality ...... maybe "sweetness" or "femininity". Most, but not all men, are turned off by loud, brassy, bossy behavior in women. (note that one can lack bossiness without becoming submissive).
I don't have any experience of dating asian women, so I can't say whether there is actually a big difference. However I would say that Asian American women seem to have about the same personality as white American women.
I never actually dated an Asian. I have dated white and black women and I am not against dating an Asian, I just haven't actually had the opportunity to.
I do think woof's comment on bossy women. Most guys (even I to a large extent) am turned off by that when he woman does not know when to stop. I know I have the same issue but we need to know when not to beat a dead horse.

Okay, since you're making a distinction (which I don't tend to - I think a requirement that a woman be "sweet" is a requirement of submission), let's discuss that in more detail. What do you mean by "sweetness" and "femininity?" How about an example of that, versus submissiveness?

I don't know if it would be considered "submissive" either, but that seems to be a close term. A couple friends of mine married Filipinas, the most extreme case would keep herself in the kitchen with the baby while the men ate, coming out only only to serve them more food or drinks (her husband even tried to change that behavior, with limited success). My wife (from Mexico) will bring me food, but she also does that for our kids too.
Not that it is absolutely exclusive to a foreign-born wife either, as I had a childhood friend that married an American girl raised in Charleston, where she waited on him hand and foot. Once they got her in the Army (as he was), they quickly divorced. He remarried a few years later, to bring this full-circle, his second wife is Korean.

Well, submissiveness means to do what the other person wants, such as fetching something. Sweetness has more to with a quiet demeanor, smiling a lot, looking at the partner with love in her eyes.
A submissive woman might wear a short dress just because the man wants it, even though she hates it, while a sweet woman would gently and persistently refuse without a lot of shouting.

I've never heard of those behaviors from Filipinas. That's quite bizarre. Unless they were from the countryside?
I think submission reflects illiteracy and a lack of education.

Okay, how often do you expect this (quiet demeanor, smiling a lot, looking at the partner with love in her eyes) from the woman, and do you do it as well? Could it be that you're just looking for love, and confusing that with submission?
As for this: while a sweet woman would gently and persistently refuse without a lot of shouting. Would that apply to you as well?
I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. Seriously guys, your wants, needs & expectations of women are absolutely hilarious.
