I don't want to soapbox on my views about abortion, but another thought came to me reading this just now. If Humans were to lay eggs, would one of us be obligated to sit on a nest full of human eggs till they hatched, or would the Mom simply bury them in the backyard like a gator, or a turtle? I guess they would find their way to the house when they hatched? (Insert picture of cute, dirty babies crawling toward the patio door.)
Well, this thread got silly when people started to talk about marsupials. Let us face facts: kangeroos and the other marsupials do not lay eggs. Even if they did, I doubt they would be tasty.
Now, the platypus does lay eggs: two to four at a time. The following chart will tell you everything you need to know about the playful platypus:
Notice that the platypus is surprisingly large: much larger than the gorilla. I was surprised at that. I was not surprised to see that the chicken is smaller, or the snake, although I have seen some very, very big snakes.
Anyway, the real point of this thread should be: anytime you have a creature, like a platypus, that is larger than a gorilla, yet also has a poisonous spur (which the gorilla lacks), then one should be concerned.
It is said that the platypus can eat its own weight every day, which, from the picture, equates to two gorillas per day. Where the platypus has access to that many gorillas, especially in Australia, I do not confess to know.
It is like Groucho Marx once said: This morning I shot a platypus in my pajamas. What the platypus was doing in my pajamas, I don't know.
[if pigs could fly would you feel differently about bacon?]
Yes, I would appreciate it more after I shot it down.
