What's the point of this thread? I'm reading through the responses, and it's a bunch of conservatives saying they don't qualify for welfare programs. Doesn't that debunk the talking point about how everyone and their mother can just get on welfare and buy a big screen tv?
Gooooly Ed,

What are some good cash handout programs in your state?
I just pointed out some good corporate welfare handouts in my state, you know, welfare comes in other forms besides free cheese, subsidized housing, big screen TVs and other stuff those po people get.
According to what I heard, PA is one of the few states where it's not hard to get on benefits. On the other hand, we don't have millions upon millions of illegals making a beeline for PA, nor does our welfare recipient percentages exceed those of the South
Here are the cash benefit programs available in PA: Cash Assistance
Looks like there are relatively strict criteria and not all that many people would qualify. I'm not sure if I was someone dedicated to living on the dole PA is the state I'd go to. Do people really migrate from one state to another seeking the 'best' assistance benefits anyway? If so there can't be many of them. Probably more likely a business would pack up and relocate when offered a sweet tax deal from a competing state.

Yes...people do.
Talk to a SF vagrant sometime...highly educational.
If you're a single male you can't even get welfare. Food stamps are all you can get and even then you'd have to be dirt poor, even in California. Basically, they'll make sure you don't starve to death but that's about it.
How about YOU make sure you don't starve to death. What a unique concept.
Do tell us where I said that. All I ask is that government not interfere with the right of a willing property owner to sell me a house I can afford. Is something wrong with that?
So how exactly will that happening make your financial life better. You go on and on about wanting this particular house. Let's say you get what you want. Will that get you a better job, benefits, etc?
